The E39. I have a end-of-the-line 525i in Biarritz Blue. It's an original AB unit which I bought off its first owner. It runs like a dream, and so far it hasn't given me any problems.

Of course the first service when I took it over was a bit painful on the wallet - 3k worth of parts & fluids, but since then it hasn't missed a beat. Small price to pay for the grin it puts on my face every morning when I start her up and hear the N54 purr.

Will be sending my car to Weng Seng next month to have the paintwork sorted out. Some minor dents here and there. After which I don't foresee why I would want to sell this car....ever...;)

ade keh N54?

BMW N54 Engine

The N54 is a twin-turbocharger straight-6 automobile engine from BMW. It was launched in late 2006 as a high-performance option for the BMW 3-Series, first to be released along with the new 3-series E92 Coupé, to be followed closely by other existing 3-series models, then with other BMW series as well.

It is BMW's first production turbocharged gasoline engine in 26 years since the 745i in 1980.

Onboard switch??? what and where is the switch located?? Are you referring to the On-board-computer (OBC), air-con switch, temp switch, headlight switch?? there are many onboard switches....be more specific in order for us to give you advice.

Did you send the e39 523i to a bmw specialist for diagnostic test and mechanical checks before you confirmed the purchase?? If YES, I am sure you would know what are the items that need repairs and/or replacement. If NO, then I wish you good luck. Car dealers will promise you everything under the sun and once you have confirmed and signed for the purchase, dealer will use the cheapest solution to rectify/repair your car.

Thanks bro herbert on your help. I guess i have to be in the wish me luck mode. I didn't ask any bmw specialist to do the diagnostic check on the car. Like you said, car dealer can said whatever things they want to repair but turn out just to be the other round. Too bad for me....i have asked the car dealer already, it is the aircond switch onboard things and they have to rectify the things first. Then after that need to go through puspakom checking. Now i really hope i didn't make the wrong choice. :(

One of the reasons why our BMWCM is getting very popular nowadays is the vast amount of technical information avaliable in our database. Plus everyone is eager to offer a helping hand to anyone who needs it. We are all very passionate with our rides and just let us know how is your ride after you received it from the dealer.
