Hello, I’m new here. First posting after registering the roll call. Been driving my 320d Alpine weiss M-Sport for 10-month already. Fitted power kit 5-month ago. All else in stock mode.
Without power kit, the car was such “impatience” during low speed, always asking for step on the gas paddle. Just like dragging a whining kid who refused to walk along. In other word, at low speed deceleration was as fast as acceleration when I let go or let loose the paddle.
After offering the whining kid a lollipop, ah ha, driving at low speed is much smoother. Power kit is a must for smooth ride. Of course the power kit allows faster acceleration.
When I collect my car after fitted power kit, I wanted my stock parts back. I only got back ECU, fan and intercooler. I asked for the torque converter as well, but the SA said there was no stock torque converter in the car, they fitted a torque converter instead. How true is this?
Good and bad things about the car:
Always feel the “reserve power”. Even at 160km/h, still can feel that the car can provide the agility of fast acceleration if required.
Good road gripping and cornering. But swung once on a rainy road. I wasn’t driving, so I can’t tell much how this happened.
Unacceptable noisy Bridgestone Potenza run flat tyres.
Good steering, can “touch” the road. But the big steering grip yet the sport mode only hard turning steering was not easy for smaller palms during parking.
Good shock absorber. Always feel solid. But I think my car got major fault on the suspension recently. When the wheels were straight, it’s still solid, but when at steering of 45 degree turning or more, even a small pot hole or bump at low speed (15km/h), the shock was such great like it crashed into deep pot hole. What happened? Need sifu to advise me here.
Curved side mirrors not blind spot proof. Yet the big roof pillars causing less agility. Good news is the rear mirror is fair, not too dark (comparing to the Mercedes) when pick up high beam from rear car.
Comfort-ability? Come on, don’t mention this word, it’s a taboo. Salesperson has been honest on this, your pick. But, to the least, comfort-ability is fair for driver and front passenger.
Relatively lower fuel consumption. Mine is at 8L/100km, usually driving within KL. Driving outstation on highway is 6.3L/100km.
Filling up Shell since day one. No dirty exhaust noticed.
At first service, I’ve already complained on cracking sound of the rear seat. At second service, cracking sound of door.
Pure Driving Pleasure? Think again.
Fierce eyes, fierce purring “impatience” engine and the loud roaring BMW horn. This machine is a rival magnet. Life is a battlefield :thefinger:. From Perodua Kancil to the Tan Chong’s Mother Trucker and even the Audi S5 coupe are all the same. Driving like a Kancil driver zigzagging on the road to gain self-confidence by over taking this machine. Driving this machine yet finding inner peace despite these drivers around are so Zen.
Sometimes I am wondering whether it’s the car or the colour, which made it to a rival magnet? BTW, it can’t be me, I neither zigzag nor tailgating. Do you find your car a rival magnet? And what is your colour?
Measurement of Value is beyond the car itself
There is not much road for top speed in Malaysia. You’ll feel much “restricted” given the Malaysian road condition if you are driving one of those V8 and above. This is a sporty car at a reasonable price where it may not cause too much heart ache if got a little scratch, yet this 4-pot engine not likely to go breathless in this Malaysian road. It’s a car on the road, not those exorbitant “show car”, which hardly able to get to the “comfortable” speed, which causes the driver to go “breathless” instead. :motz:
Bottom line:
If you want ordinary comfortable driving, this is not the machine. Good value for sporty driver and is a good training kit for hardcore Zen practitioner. LOL :top:
Oh, if you are one of those rich daddies reading this because your kid is asking for this car, love your kid, buy this car not. Your kid is asking for trouble.
