Yep

What's so confusing?

so, u feel better without RaceChip when need to chase those supercars? that means your current RaceChip default setting not good for top speed? confused because ur previous post saying 180-240kph is awesome with RaceChip but u say stock ECU map better when playing with supercars. anyway, enjoy it and hope you can tweak it for both worlds

Petronas diesel very dirty , your bumper will be coated a thin yellowish layer, very hard to clean. So far bhp and caltex acceptable

BHP or Caltex then, probably BHP since theres one in Kuchai Lama.

What about ESSO?

Bro. nand78,
Still haven't decide to change or not,
worry the tip will affect the engine performance.
All the while when riding motorbike or driving my previous car, I always stick to the original design.

Have no experience at all in the car modification stuff.

Thanks for your kind invitation, I am in the middle of getting more information before action. :)

Cheers

Chee Huat,

No problem man, me not a modification freak either...just wanna solek abit here n there to look smarter :)

LOL! It's pointless to race topspeed with them, they will leave u eating dust. Play starts around 140, they will wait for you a while and if you can follow both of u can have some fun. With Racechip default setting, the power in mid speed seems lacking, so harder to follow these types of cars at mid-speeds.

If they want to tekan habis, then say goodbye to them la :D But most of them are quite sporting, including many superbikers.
.

Went to Quill PJ just now to send my car for servicing and saw a souped up F30 320d in the showroom. Red with 20" black rims, with the performance parts...huge M brakes..power kit...not sure its for sale or just decorated to attract buyers.
Anyway the car looks awesome!! but the body kits looked pretty much the same as the normal F30.

Is there a MSport version for the F30s?

Yes it should be available, they sold off their super dressed up F30 328i with lots of M-sport goodies

Hello, I’m new here. First posting after registering the roll call. Been driving my 320d Alpine weiss M-Sport for 10-month already. Fitted power kit 5-month ago. All else in stock mode.

Without power kit, the car was such “impatience” during low speed, always asking for step on the gas paddle. Just like dragging a whining kid who refused to walk along. In other word, at low speed deceleration was as fast as acceleration when I let go or let loose the paddle.

After offering the whining kid a lollipop, ah ha, driving at low speed is much smoother. Power kit is a must for smooth ride. Of course the power kit allows faster acceleration.

When I collect my car after fitted power kit, I wanted my stock parts back. I only got back ECU, fan and intercooler. I asked for the torque converter as well, but the SA said there was no stock torque converter in the car, they fitted a torque converter instead. How true is this?

Good and bad things about the car:

Always feel the “reserve power”. Even at 160km/h, still can feel that the car can provide the agility of fast acceleration if required.
Good road gripping and cornering. But swung once on a rainy road. I wasn’t driving, so I can’t tell much how this happened.

Unacceptable noisy Bridgestone Potenza run flat tyres.

Good steering, can “touch” the road. But the big steering grip yet the sport mode only hard turning steering was not easy for smaller palms during parking.

Good shock absorber. Always feel solid. But I think my car got major fault on the suspension recently. When the wheels were straight, it’s still solid, but when at steering of 45 degree turning or more, even a small pot hole or bump at low speed (15km/h), the shock was such great like it crashed into deep pot hole. What happened? Need sifu to advise me here.

Curved side mirrors not blind spot proof. Yet the big roof pillars causing less agility. Good news is the rear mirror is fair, not too dark (comparing to the Mercedes) when pick up high beam from rear car.

Comfort-ability? Come on, don’t mention this word, it’s a taboo. Salesperson has been honest on this, your pick. But, to the least, comfort-ability is fair for driver and front passenger.

Relatively lower fuel consumption. Mine is at 8L/100km, usually driving within KL. Driving outstation on highway is 6.3L/100km.
Filling up Shell since day one. No dirty exhaust noticed.

At first service, I’ve already complained on cracking sound of the rear seat. At second service, cracking sound of door.

Pure Driving Pleasure? Think again.

Fierce eyes, fierce purring “impatience” engine and the loud roaring BMW horn. This machine is a rival magnet. Life is a battlefield :thefinger:. From Perodua Kancil to the Tan Chong’s Mother Trucker and even the Audi S5 coupe are all the same. Driving like a Kancil driver zigzagging on the road to gain self-confidence by over taking this machine. Driving this machine yet finding inner peace despite these drivers around are so Zen.

Sometimes I am wondering whether it’s the car or the colour, which made it to a rival magnet? BTW, it can’t be me, I neither zigzag nor tailgating. Do you find your car a rival magnet? And what is your colour?

Measurement of Value is beyond the car itself

There is not much road for top speed in Malaysia. You’ll feel much “restricted” given the Malaysian road condition if you are driving one of those V8 and above. This is a sporty car at a reasonable price where it may not cause too much heart ache if got a little scratch, yet this 4-pot engine not likely to go breathless in this Malaysian road. It’s a car on the road, not those exorbitant “show car”, which hardly able to get to the “comfortable” speed, which causes the driver to go “breathless” instead. :motz:

Bottom line:

If you want ordinary comfortable driving, this is not the machine. Good value for sporty driver and is a good training kit for hardcore Zen practitioner. LOL :top:
Oh, if you are one of those rich daddies reading this because your kid is asking for this car, love your kid, buy this car not. Your kid is asking for trouble.

From what I understand they don't change the torque converter, that's why you don't one back. If you read the UK forums, there's usually a charge for the Power Kit and a separate charge for the torque converter if needed.

Bro Geometry, just in case you missed the review http://paultan.org/2011/09/03/bmw-performance-diesel-power-kit-for-320d-197hp/

The hardware they supplied are fan, intercooler, new frame & plastic air guide. As far as I know lah... all auto tranny cars comes with torque converter,(apart from those CVT gearbox). How come your SA said they fitted a TC?? He sure or nott....??:hmmmm2:

Hello there,

Thank you for your advices.

Before I purchase the power kit, I've asked the SA for the part list to be fitted in. I want to make sure there is an up-rated torque converter in the kit before I agreed to the upgrade. From my understanding, without the up-rated torque converter, the current torque converter will not be able to handle the extra power. The SA printed out the part list and pointed out to me that there is a torque converter in the list. Therefore, I agreed to purchase the upgrade. No up-rated TC fitted didn't cross my mind till your posting. Don't scare me...

As jwah posted on 18-01-2012 01:45 AM, item number 6 as in the photo is the torque converter. See link below:

http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?44795-BMW-Performance-Diesel-Power-Kit/page2

And perhaps kuntakinte posting on 19-01-2012 02:12 PM made things clear:

"Not sure if this helps. During the powerkit briefing at quill, the tech specialist has specifically mentioned that the 320d 184hp versions come with the new uprated torque converter by default whereas the 177hp is still on the older one hence the reason why the powerkit was not available for the latter." - kuntakinte

See link below:

http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?44795-BMW-Performance-Diesel-Power-Kit/page4

If kuntakinte was right, there is a misrepresentation case. I was made believe that the value of money I was going to spend for the power kit was inclusive of a new up-rated TC, which was already fitted in my car by default indeed. Legal case...

Hi namidub,

Thanks for your warm welcome, I can't locate the Newbie section.

No worry, the TC is the updated version. The information may be outdated. I don't get the old TC back too.
