Btw the only way to minimize the high sulfur content impact on ur diesel is regular oil change. Think of ur engine oil as liquid detergent where it will absorb contaminant up to a point.

Anyhow there is a huge supply of 320d in the premium selection with as late as nov 2011 stock asking 215k.

To prolong diesel engine life, better to change engine oil more often... more so with our dusty and humid climate...

Errmm... first oil change is in 10,000kms... anyhow, the manual states do not rev over 3500rpm, which for a diesel is pretty close to the redline of 4500rpm, and do not use kickdown, for up to 1500kms... so i think a leisurely cruise at 150km/h at around 3000rpm should be okay, but i've got her close to 180km/h which was pretty close to exceeding the rev limit suggested by the manual. Anyways, I intend to change the oil at around 3000kms anyway.

Hi JediM, which part of the manual state this?

Thanks!

Why there are so many trade-in, even quite new one?

Yes, the SA called me and say got a lot la. Call up AB.

Also the mileage was too low say less than 2k.... i wonder how can a normal car for 4 months only have 2k km.... either a demo, track, or training car for the BMW personnel.... Then again with almost full 1.5yrs warranty and full untouched BSRI.... it is attractive,...

And I saw some advertised in the STAR classified asking for 225k for a 6months old 320D with an even higher mileage....I wonder who will be silly enough to consider this vs the premium selection.

It's in the section titled Driving Hints. My manual has colour coded tabs on the page edges for section by section ease of reference.

The 1k mileage ones r reg in march or may 2010 and they r the BMW track or training cars. These r the older 177hp/350nm engine type

Go for the November 2010 ones. These r the new uprated 184hp/380nm engines. Mileage between 4k to 7k. They r not track or training cars but assigned BMW staff car.

Price is the same for all of them. 215k nego. Really good deal as I booked a nov 2010 alpine white last week. There r still one space grey n black nov 2010 with mileage of 4k to 5k+ or alpine white with 7k+ mileage. Grab em

During the last Innovation Days, all the training cars were 320D from KL.

What is the final transacted price, if you dont mind.

Let's just say u can get about 1-2% off the sticker price but anything more, eg freebies etc, u gotta bargain a little.
Also, depends on how desperate the salesman is too, esp if he is below his quota.

As for cars used during innovation days, they r definitely the mar/may models hence the ridiculously low mileage of 1k+ which is why get the nov 2010 models as they r assigned staff cars (with assigned to names in the stock listing). Just the uprated specs of 184hp/380nm is worth every penny

Certainly interested to test drive... where are these cars located, in any particular dealership?
Thanks.

The cars r available at AB glenmarie.

For the cars u r interested, get the salesman to print the spec sheet via the vin number.

If the power rating is 135kw, then u r in luck.

I don't wish to b seen as promoting any salesman publicly. Pm me ur contact n I get the guy to call u n offer u what I hv.

Disclaimer: I get nothing from him. Just help the guy hit his quota n if by doing that, can get us a better deal, why not, right?

I presume you taking AB loan as well for the premium selection which is like 2.6%....right?

It all depends on ur loan and tenure. My friend who bought together had 2.58% whilst mine is 2.83% due to my smaller loan and 3 yr tenure from BMW credit. (for comparison, was quoted 2.73% for 4-year 70k loan). Get their insurance too. They have a package with allianz - check their website.

Sorry to drag this back on topic but I'm kinda excited and wanted to share the following:

The first long distance run for my 320D resulted in the following notable stats:

Average fuel consumption - 6.5L/100km

Distance covered - 750km+

1/4 tank of fuel remaining

Top Speed during trip: 190km/h

I'm pretty impressed, like wow....

Apparently it's possible to get a stock 177HP 320D up to 240km/h with enough road.... I need to go find my racing suit and helmet gloves and shoes....

Understand how you feel. I am equally impressed with my 320d. I came back from Camerons last week covering 630km with slightly less than half a tank of fuel left. Lasted the week travelling to work (PJ to KLCC). Just refueled this morning as the jam getting out of KL yesterday evening was horrendous & badly effected my FC. Mileage before refueling was nearly 900km. So I get around 11-12 cents to a KM if I am travelling outstation. If fully town drive (PJ-KLCC daily), its around 14-15cents to a KM. Some might complain about the audible diesel clatter but seriously once you are inside the car, you can hardly hear it. Even if one insist there is, just turn on the radio and the problem is solved!

The TORQUE is a whole new story and maybe we should start a separate thread relating our experience on this topic. Overall: 2 thumbs up for 320d and waiting for the F30 325d!!! (If its coming to our shores)

but i'm just thinking about switching to aunty mode this week to see how many miles i can squeeze out of the 320D by observing all speed limits and driving consistently and conservatively and not pushing the stick over to DS mode....
