From what I understand nothing was changed in the engine or ECU, only the DPF was removed which doesn't really change much in terms of power/torque/FC figures. The BMW N47 is designed for Euro 2 use, our Euro 2M fuel meets most of the Euro 3 standards already so it's all within specs which explains the hp/Nm/mpg figures.

i think euro2M is still ok if you get regular oil & filter changes (more frequently than 15,000km) for our babies to continue to crank out their performance figures.
...my reservations are on the biodiesel policy, to be honest. have to be more convinced by BMWM that enough tests have been done such that the 5% bio will not cause any additional coking issues in the engine.
my current solution? get the engine temperatures hot hot hot to carbon clean, ie drive hard hard hard.

BMW globally has certified that their engines are ok for up to B7. So if the Malaysian biodiesel actually follows the global standards then I don't see much problems or reason for BMWM to run tests.

I'm far more worried about the biodiesel in Malaysia not following standards than any particular engine not being able to handle biodiesel in the long run.

Hey all, joined the bandwagon and got myself a 320D m-sport (Alpinweiss). Car should be collected on Monday or Tuesday and I can't wait. Always wanted a beamer and what better time to get it with the 0.88% interest promo, 3 years free service + warranty and the latest iDrive thrown in. Will probably end up modding the rims, grill and tailpipe as a start before getting enough funds for KW V2s and bluefinning it.

Exciting times lie ahead.

May I ask bro, what promo is the 0.88% ? BMW Malaysia finance ??
Thanks

Bro muhaiminrahim, 7.2L/100KM is awesome  Don't tell me you always tekan and still get this type of consumption?

That's actual normal consumption for me on a highway when I tekan. If I drive at an even speed the whole way I get around 5-6L/100km average, sometimes lower.

I always fill up full tank for my 320d .The fuel warning light which says 100km to go comes up around 700km, and I fill up at about 750km. -pay just over a hundred ringgit. What do you guys experience?

Me too.... always full tank, but always find the wrong petrol nozzel... always took longer time to slowly refill.... @_@

It depends really but most of the time I do almost the same as you do. If the car is mostly stop/go driving then I barely get 650km before the light comes on. I almost never wait a lot beyond the warning, trying to keep the fuel pump in working order :D

Agree with gameover there. Don't make ur car run on fumes before your next fuel stop. The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank and drenched for a reason - it needs to be lubricated by the fuel.

dear sifus,
I will be taking delivery of my ride sometime soon.... need to check with you all what is the "appropriate" run-in/break-in period that I need to observe... I use the word appropriate is bcoz i get mixed reviews/feedbacks when I speak to different SAs... some say no need coz nowadays engine so advance no need to break.... some conservative schools says must at least 2k km..., so based on your ownerships, which is it?
The SA also says that the 1st service is in 15k km, then subsequent 20k km intervals..... I would assume this would hold true if I were to follow the no break in approach..
but based on the break-in theory, shouldn't the engine be serviced after the run-in/break-in to flush out all the loose particles?
your kind responses is much appreciated... cheers!

I'm guessing some of you oil-burning folks were at quill testing out the performance kit yesterday? Was there to collect my ride to fix some minor faults and saw a bunch of enthusiastic guys in the test car as well as a whole row of 320Ds parked pretty together.

So what's the verdict?

Yes bro...around 20 people of us were there ...
U can find our comment from the 320d powerkitted thread..
The offer were good..quill also offering upgrade for rims and braking system as well..

Are you sure of that service interval? I've been on 15k km since the start including pretty much every other 320d owner out there I think...

After reading that the common pros of the upgrade kit was a reduction in the diesel engine tappets, i'm actually considering getting it. Probably arrange for a test drive before I pull the plug on the installation.

Great feedback guys.

I dunno... my SA told me such but I am skeptical.... that is why I asked the question here....
based on what I have read in the forums... some said that proper maintenance is half of the said interval, ie.. 10k instead of 20k.... so mixed school of thoughts..
trying to get some feedbacks based on actual owners service approach so that it could be more conclusive..
appreciate all if could provide some feedbacks and insight on to this..
cheers.

Its 15K km but the OBC(on board comp) recalculates if there's a problem with the car, hard driving, and calls you in sooner. Maniac bro tells me that even if the service warning hasn't come on but if you have already done 12K km since the last service, they are obliged to service your car.
