Where they get car to sell in Premium Selection if none traded in yet?

AB Premium Selection cars are 90% pre-reg and used by BMW Malaysia and AB staff or demo cars. Mileage can be as low as 1000 to 10k km. Usually registered less than 1 year ago, most are as recent as 3-5 months.

when i mentioned trade-ins, I meant direct owner trade-ins. Also, not easy to get direct owner sales in the used car market too. Speaks volume of the joy the current owners are having with their 320d.

So far, the lowest price I have seen is Quill's pre-owned Mar 2010, done 20k km, selling for RM 195k.

Frankly, BMW's resale value for all models have not been too spectacular of late. The Audis and VWs seem to hold value better (due to their 5 yr warranty?). Maybe it's also because the Premium Selection business model is cannibalising prices too.

Thus, for me, to balance practicality with passion for the BMW brand, i chose to buy Premium selection - that way, at least BMW has borne the first brunt of depreciation which could result in savings of nearly 40-50k for a 3-4 month old model (depending on your petaling street skills)

Bus or Hilux truck... That why I didn't buy after testing also and gonna wait until F20 comes. Also salesman admitted resale value not so good.

What rubbish... Is your salesman high?

Pre-reg and staff and demo car are not the used car market price mah, those are just their internal sales pricing tactic. The used car market price is important because it will effect the trade-in price for your next purchase.

I was interested in the 320d and do test drive at AB Sg Besi. When I asked the salesman how's the trade-in pricing, he said actually for diesel trucks and 4wheel drive is very good, but for cars not too good. Many factor he said. So now I prefer to wait for the F30 with the new petrol turbo engines to appear.

Yes meetoo...cough up the name of the sales man...or are you the one spreading these lies and disinformation on the net about diesel engines???? Come on lah....don't be a misdirected extremist diesel-hating bigot, meetoo. What is the salesman name???? We want to write an official complaint to Mr Briscoe of BMW Malaysia!!!!!

Why should I? He is being a honest and mature salesman. I will definitely go to him when the F30 available for test drive. I think you diesel car owner got a complex or something. You think anyone who decide don't want diesel car is doing a personal attack against you or what? Bahh!

What is so honest and mature about randomly predicting resale values? Did he make a conclusion based on how his poo float that morning, or with actual data?

Or do petrol cars give him more sales margin? Does he have alot of 325i to clear stock instead of 320d? Think about it.

The 320d is a desirable car with good demand, and the diesel engine has proven to be quite problem free, the opposite of cars that have bad resale value typically have.

If for some reason 320d have bad resale value its only because people listen to rubbish and not facts.

And then end up it is the rumor mongers with an agenda are damaging our second hand value, not actual problems with the car. Indirectly you are indeed attacking our financials by consciously spreading rubbish about diesel cars.

Wake up lah, don't go around spreading stupid rumors.

Even the diesel engines are getting twin scroll technology....

New 3-liter diesel. With the further development of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, additional dynamics and efficiency potentials have also been made accessible for use on in-line six-cylinder diesel engines. The new 3-liter diesel power unit features a further optimization of internal friction coefficients, weight and fuel injection.

Maximum power output has been increased by 10 kW to 190 kW/258 bhp. Maximum torque is now 560 N·m (413 lb-ft)—20 N·m more—and is available at 1,500 rpm.

Apart from modified air supply with shortened ducts, the response characteristics of the new six-cylinder diesel engine also benefits from a weight-optimized crankshaft.

An optimized injection process contributes additionally towards an increase in output and torque. Common Rail injection, the solenoid valve injectors of which operate at a maximum pressure of 1,800 bar, ensures, inter alia, by means of a recalibrated pre-injection system even more efficient combustion, spontaneous power development and enhanced acoustic characteristics of the diesel engine.

The turbocharger with variable intake geometry has been further optimized and now boasts even better stability. Simultaneously, the weight of the turbine wheel was reduced. The spontaneous response of the supercharger associated with this boosts power delivery at low engine speeds.

The new diesel engine featured in the new BMW 530d xDrive facilitates acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 5.7 liters/100 km (41 mpg US), while the CO2 emission level has been reduced to 150 grams per kilometer.

In terms of its basic constructional features, including the arrangement of the ancillary components and the belt drive, the new in-line six-cylinder is virtually identical to the current BMW four-cylinder diesel power units.

What the petrol engines with their twinscroll technology are doing is just playing catch up with the phenomenal turbodiesels...flat-torque curve? We had that already aeons ago! You want to buy a z428i for the new engine? Pay through your nose for the new engine.

My boy. You've got issues to behind with. Either you're in a state of denial or you're just one of those people born every minute. Salesman no matter in what industry will sell you just about anything otherwise they'r arent called salesman for nothing. Sure they'll tell you the difference between model but I've never came across an honest salesman who would tell otherwise for example " Actually the BMW is just overrated and my advice to you with your budget and your preference being a petrol vehicle may I advice you to go over and buy the Audi instead"" ha ha fat chance of that happening. So with tht how can there be a honest salesman??? Being professional about his job yes, honest no!!

Anyway if you're not a diesel fan then I suggest not to add unwanted and unfounded claims. Just think about it. If BMW didn't believe in the diesel variant, why would they invest so much to come up with one when they didn't have one to begin with??.
Two if the diesel is sold is so bad why was there so much empahsis on the diesel variant in their last few release?? Such as X3only diesel available and no petrol available plus the 520d

Exactly. Don't like diesel, just leave it at that, stop spreading rubbish. I am on my second passenger diesel sedan!!!
