putting in the M30B35 is like overhauling it.. cos the engines from the chop shop's would have'd covered more than 200k km's..dun what you will get..

getting a short block is good.. but same story..need to spend the extra's..

what hitman says is true, a good engine would be reliable for everyday driving,
further more my engine is L-jetronic and troublesome tuning it.. some days like s.hit and other days like sweets in it..

see, you didn't ask the L-jet master to teach you to learn about the L-jet......you tune till engine kaboomm.....

my thoughts- since i know you, what you plan for the car, the way you drive

1. m30 3.5, get an auto box with it, all old skool type, with no electronics
2. m30 2.8/3.0 ,still available wif auto incase 3.5cc too much to handle
3. m20 eta engine, can still use the older autobox, balance with the rear diff

- all of the above are autoboxes, why? read on......
you already have a monster manual, -or going to be called a monster manual, as its still a slow coach at the moment, so this one you should do an auto cruiser

agree M30B35 with motronic 1.3.

Good reliable all rounder with enough go even with auto box. economy also not too bad in e28.

Straight forward conversion compared with v8 or m5x. no need to muck around with different length long shafts etc.

Also Motronic many go faster chips available, ask me if you want to try.
