318 N42, engine/gearbox problem almost going to end..

Want to get advice from the all sifu's here, it seems it is almost time to make a major overhaul, the engine sound heard all kinds, gearbox too. I almost 250k mileage. but still can ride (till the end.. haha). So, in the opinion from all sifu's, I don't think to sell it yet, which one is better, for the price, power end etc. - Overhauling - my thinking, same power, and costly??? maybe around 10k for GB n engine?? - Swap with 325 engine - price ???? more power but cost???? - Swap to 1jz-GTE-VVTI. - ??? almost 10k-15k, but more power.Thanks for advance...!!
 
Go for a half cut SMG 2.5 if you wish to sell your car later. Otherwise 1jz will drop it's price by 20-30k

How much it's cost for smg 2.5 half cut?
 
not a pro but here are some of the point ya ..

if overhaul, you may keep your oginallity of your ride and no headache etc etc ..cost wise : it's never gonna be cheap when it's involving most of the internals etc etc ...so just ask the price of available piston and it's ring from a local shop and you could roughly determine the entire cost ...my estimation : nothing less than 10 K and labour for such job would be around 2~3K or even more

If convert to japa heart : i won't comment much on it

plonk in a half-cut : do find it through your workshop as he would be the best to find a good one around and take care of the rest till the car rolls out. cost wise : better to set it at a higher target ..say rm15K .. unless would want to cut cost, eventually you'll end up to that figure after numerous visit to workshops for parts replacement etc etc...

so end of the day the choice is your .... if ya car is CASH paid for, then i would suggest is to go for the ultimate power and enjoy your ride ...

i think its easier to just sell it off and get a 325i instead. Besides it will be more difficult for you to recuperate your investment when you want to sell your car, as the loan amount will be based on a 318i and not 325i.

It's right? Ok, but at the moment I'm not thinking to sell it. Who knows, maybe someone racun me to switch to F10 or F30 hahaha ... but I don't want to make hutang lagi.

So,
- Don't want to make hutang.
- Need more power. Upgrade to 325 or JZ version.
- Overhauling.

Does anybody here have been changed to JZ engine into E46? I would like to hear comments from you about possible problems, or whatever.
