GB for K + D Can USB Cable (INPA compatible)

hi Jarance...i have problem connecting or keeping the DCan alive, whenever i plug in the USB DCan, the red led lits but only for 20seconds. i have no problem with the softwares INPA/ GT1 but they dont seem to connect. i dont know if, when you plug in the DCan to your car the red led lights up or not, mine not. the following are what i got when i try to connect them,

i dont know if the DCan is specially installed with ftduin file ? it can register itself in the device manager as BMW USB OBD Port.

btw,
1. what OS are you using on the laptop?
2. which is the source of your program? from DVD (GB) or from other download site.

I did not use the DVD program provided but use the program download from bimmer link for win7-64 bits.

yeah, it does seem high compare to mine as well.

i'm using OS is WinXP SP3. software is the one from the DVD.

few points i figured, the red LED of the DCan did not light up during connection with the Car, so it is normal without Red LED.
problems i had when i tried to update my FTDI driver to the latest one or to the one before it. crashes my OS to restart so hafto use safe mode to roll back driver.

oh yeah, what version of INPA you downloaded ? 5.02 ? In the DVD we got 5.00. i would like to get 5.02

i dont know how to co-relate the temperature readings/unit yet. seems funny to me

Thanks alex.. I was afraid that the DVD rom might be damaged during transportation.

I guess the extra cardboard works to protect the DVD rom.

Mine is 5.02 which is download from bimmerforum link. Just download and do a upgrade as instructed.
You need to use a virtual disk program to crate a virtual DVD drive. After you mount the iso image,
you can do the upgrade. BTW, it need to have the base program install first in order to upgrade.

now I'm all excited to get mine..... if can run on android even better.... then can have a display in the car... real time 24 hours.... maybe will just get a net book and detach the screen ... ( now where did I keep that soldering iron!! )

I dont think there is a program using android OS. I know there is some program using wince or winPC
with ELM327 and bluetooth interface. (but very limited function)

and you are not going to get anywhere if you dont collect your scanner. so when you want it.. LOL

Now I don't know what to do with the CD, i thought just push in the CD and some instruction will be appear and we just follow step by step.

found a solution already...... my next project .... Car PC, can run windows, surf net, got 3g and WiFi, got GPS also. best part.... support CAN Bus, so can intergrate with steering. Manufactured by ATOM, then just go and customize a LCD screen to fit the DASH.

Let me try this out first .... Will let you know.

I have got an BT ELM327 , I have not got around to get an Android machine to try it out yet. Perhaps you can try, I can loan you the BT ELM327.
