late 2013 or 2014 models should not have these knocking sound problems anymore..

simonyap, you changed to titan as well?

do share your experience here thanks!

Yes, just changed. First experience was the car much-much more stable. Especially when over bump or uneven road surface in high speed.
Still new. Need time to explore more and will share in the future.

By the way what about others who have changed to other aftermarket brands like kw? Or ohlins for their f30? Do share here as well if the knocking sound is gone.. I think those will even b much better since their coil overs

Yup, you guys were right. Steering rack change didn't solve the problem. Top mount bearing issue. Btw, was quoted by Titan for 'luxury' kit higher than what you guys mentioned. Anyone tried their hi/lo kit? Different rates to luxury at stock settings?

i've tried the titan coilovers many years ago in 2003 when i had it in my satria. as a family man now i say that it will be too harsh and stiff for me. not sure if anyone installed the coilovers on f30. unless you're single and drives the car alone most of the time with no passengers, i think the coilovers will surely give you better handling and ride compared to the "luxury" titan dampers.

the stiffness and ride height is fully customizable, and if you go coilover route, don't forget to change to pillowball mounts as well!

anyone tried bilstein B6 or B8 with either stock springs or H&R blue or Eibach pro-kit springs? 2 cents or critics welcome. can't find that many opinion about the bilsteins.

I have installed the H&R sport springs with Bilstein B8s. I will say unequivocally that my F30 is now a better car than when it left the factory.

The first positive that hit me was the better turn in response and feel. The car does hardly squats or lift on acceleration / hard braking. As you would expect the car is no longer floaty and does not bounce as you pass over uneven roads and undulations which was a big complain from my passengers. My car runs on Mich PSS. This tire/sussy combo really shine during rempit sessions on the twisties, e.g. Genting via Route68 or Ulu Yam.

The negatives - well its a lowered ride with firmer dampers, the ride is bound to be a little harsher than stock. Immediately after the install, I noticed every nook and cranny the tire goes over. One thing though, my passengers did not notice the harsher ride.... maybe my butt is more sensitive than others. I hardly notice it nowadays.

Happy upgrading guys.

Jason :D

Hi.. I am new here.. just want to share my experience on this topic.. I got my 320i just before CNY, so it is manufactured in 2014 as stated in the registration card .. I noticed this notorious knocking sound from day 1 because there are so many speed bumps near my housing area. Initially I did not bother (may be too excited with my my new car) because I thought it came from the smart tag that I put in the compartment below the light swithces. One day I decided to take the smrt tag away from the compartment because I started to get irritated by the knocking sound wheneverI go over the speed bump. Unfortunately the sound still there. Then I started to search info about this knocking issue and found out that the issue is common. I decided to get my car checked at AB Jln TRazak... Went for ride with the SA and go over a few speed bumps. Fortunately he heard the knocking sound. He asked me weather this is my first BMW... yes I said.. just sold my C200K Avant .. But to my surprise what he said was " you cannot compare BM and Merc, if you want comfort you choose Merc.. BMW may not as comfortable and making more noise than Merc but it is for performance... the knocking sound is normal nothing to worry about "... I told him that even mywife's 5-year old 90k km Honda City did not give such noise.. He said nothing could be done about it.. I reluctantly accept it... but now I could not stand it anymore ... will go to the SC again and will quote the info from this forum... Hope I will get the "real" BMW ....

the solution is called.. "Titan".

forget about coilover as 3 series rear is not coilover. so no point having hi lo kit. and after having more than 10 cars on titan, trust me.. once you get teh correct setting for yourself.. u never wanna change again..

Haha wow very stupid comment coming from a BMW rep in AB which is normal to us. AB does good sales but crap after sales. Better take your car to another dealer to fix and do call up BMW Voice and tell them what this fella told you and within the same day you will receive a call from AB apologizing on that fella's behalf.

my car has that knocking sound too.

it sounds as though there is something loose inside my steering column.

SC in Sg Besi has looked into it a few times.

left there for a few days. their answer is always. "cannot replicate"

very annoying sound!

You cant do that for M adaptive suspension can you?

Guys, just wanted to clarify if my understanding is correct...does the mere changing of the shock absorbers to (eg Titans) the irritating knocking noise and loose steering feel can be eliminated entirely? If it does, I'll go down that route once my 2-year warranty period expires, which will be pretty soon.
