I noticed that there is some kind of greenish-white crust/sediment on the tailpipe of my f30 320D. Do you guys with diesel engines have this similar observation? I am currently using both Shell and Petronas diesel.View attachment 26283

i sure hope it is not a leaking cooling system that resulted in water/coolent finding its way into the combustion chamber

I think thats pretty standard on all diesel cars here. I also use shell and petronas on my e90 320d.
Changed my air filter to a Pipercross and the smoke and exhaust muck reduced tremendously whilst getting better high rev response as well.

My exhaust only produce black soot in the tip. no white-greenish as you mention so far.
my ride with Caltex Bio-diesel.

Ah, the green sulphur rings of minyak cap kerang.. wax off your tail pipe and stop using their diesel bro, the rings will disappear. It worked for me, I've only used
Petronas and Caltex since.

Their diesel meaning Shell? Is this a perennial problem for all shell diesel user?

I can only speak from my and my colleagues personal experience. We've got an E70 X5 30d, 8 F10 520ds and 4 320d E90s in our fleet. All had the green rings when we fueled with cap kerang. We switched brands and the rings haven't reoccured.

Ok...looks like Shell's diesel is the culprit. Will try to use other brand of diesel for now on and see how it turns out. Thanks, guys.
