My uncle bought an A6 brand new in 2006, maintained in Audi themselves exclusively until now, but few months ago was told his engine AND gearbox is kaput and needed to change new. Was presented with a RM87k bill, but after making some serious noise the bill was goodwill reduced to RM32k.

So all brands have problems ah...

Q is having promo on selected models such as free gift on ipad 2 original bmw dvd tablet etc.........

really? for freebies, u may saddle with something u dun wan eventually. Might as well buy ipad with our hard earned cash, it is not that any of us here can't afford it right?

Talking of the dvd tablet, I removed my dvd tablet (bmw co-brand only, black quite ugly, not the original one which saddles at the back of the seat colour coded) after 1 month of use, and immediately, no more rattling sounds from the back. My advice, don't get the dvd tablet - my car has been rattling worse than proton for the last 1 month and AB couldn't do anything to solve the rattling. Finally removed it yesterday, now it drives as quietly as an F10 should, without any rattling. This is a retrofit, without clear BMW sanction, so install at your own risk, literally - may be a hazard too I can imagine in a head-on impact! Anyway, if anyone insists and wants a set, I will gladly dispose of mine.

I am another fella who installed it. Hardly use it and the wiring is all over. Now I can't turn it on as the socket is damaged since it was on the floors and passengers normally will step on it. My advice, want to entertain your children, get PSP instead.

Haha, we got suckered! Yes, the wires are such a bother, even though supposedly tucked in. And the auto-off often doesn't work, and stays on for prolonged periods. Have you removed yours, DJH? Yes, definitely PSP or the iPad with bluetooth audio connection. So glad to have mine removed! Now enjoying the drive without clickety-clacks.

But I must say that the audio quality (even via cable) was pretty good through auxillary input. Like a cinema in the car. And I liked the fact that it plays avi and other video format files off a thumb drive of SD card, that is really a plus, coz can keep many movies just on a small thumb drive.

Thanks guys.Thinking about getting one..now i guess it is better to give my kid to play with ipad on board..

macdaque: Nope, my wife insisted to leave it alone. The rattling is killing me. It will not turn off (or will eventually, i dunno) but it is annoying
ashman: if u planned to use it often, then ok. If your passenger (including wife) one PSP is not enough and that is if she wants to play PSP.

Haha, my wife too insisted for a month, I did my bit by dutifully bringing it in to AB, without any audible results. Thought the car was rattling all over, but after removing it, found out that the DVD tablets were the only culprit. Take it off and you will know what I mean. It's easy, just two srews on each tablet, the wiring just pulls off easily. You will be glad you did - I am sure your wife doesn't sit at the back and enjoy the movies while you chauffeur her around?

An iPAD car seat bracket will be excellent, don't know whether that will also rattle though. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRACKET-BACK-CA...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item33646f5429 In fact, I think the centre console DVD player (wasn't there one for the 7 series, which has a L bracket of sorts that sits the LCD screen above the centre console box nearer the rear) should be excellent too. ok found it: http://www.bmw.com.my/com/en/newvehicles/7series/sedan/2005/allfacts/equipment_interior.html - that's neat.

my wife sits at the back with my son so I am like a prmanent driver (no salary). Not complaiing though

No wonder lah. You are a good hubby to have. It's also good synergy, you enjoy the drive (save the rattling) and they enjoy the ride (and the movies) :)

Hi there,im from indonesia ....i see malay bmw f10 also got many issue,i got my new f10 523i at 2 mei early this month.....with wierd sounds from both front suspension and brakes, sounds liek a 10 years old car LOL....i didnt sign the pre delivery inspection form...was doing the right thing. Ive been told to use it 1st n see how it goes......sadly nothin change after i used it till 500km.

I complain n guess what they said .... they bullshit me with " bmw like this , f10 like that......blabalbalab "....what am i ?a noob driving bmw? atm im still waiting for their news for checking my car ....almost 1 week...they still cant find whats the wierd sounds came from....n yet they said it was normal LOL. IMO all the SALES,SA n head mechanic were shit...low knowledge...... i said i will not use that lame car n will bring it to other dealers including specialist cbu car until the whole country know how shit is their new f10 n how shit is their human resources if they dont want to fix it. I even said i will pay any cost if necessary such as labor......etc

They told me that evrythin is okay....just a wierd sound , im like WOW......the most stupid reason i evr heard from premium brand. I reply Im not using f10 because of its 5 years free shittt....i rather pay n i buy it cause i love the style.

Well thats how bmw in my country ...not many ppl owned F10 here(maybe still new...less than 1 year) n i think im the first owner that got sounds issuee....already compare with diff cars....only mine got problems.....if they cant solve the issue i have to make a call.....replace to new unit with diff colour thats not my choice(mine was alpine white).

Defact is normal as long as they can fix it........but telling customer BMW is like this ...like that ....wtf seriously....their human resource got brain damage or what.......hopefully they can fix it, good luck to whoever got F10 problem....i hope malay bmw can solve ur issue.

Please xcuse my bad languange....Cheers.

Mikocok, the F10 model in your country also has different damper setting?

I have new issue last week. The traction warning light came on and it asked to send to workshop so i restarted it and it is normal again. Then, it happened again a few more times wthin the next few days. Sent in to check, they said they have reset the software and if problem persisted to send back. Imagine driving rain wthout traction control. WTF!!!!

oh, i have front suspension issue too. They said they had sought advised from AG. That means i will continue to wait la

DJH,
My f10 is cbu spec n i think its similar to malay cbu f10,before i send back to them theres no other issue but sounds from front suspension n bakes...fun part was they seems like dont know how to fix or find the solutions,n not willing to try to solve the issues, keep saying its okay...nothin to worried due to 5years free service lol,i said "will u buy premium car with ngek ngek sounds?".... have to keep pushing them lol.

From what i see my prob seems not that bad compare to malay f10 issue....so many diff problems. Scary n shock me abit i admit....,i already give them info that lots of f10 from malay n sing also got problems.

Imo bmw did not do the PDI check of the car PROPERLY before send to customer, cause they think cust got 5 years service....n what they do is only normal check up with computers. Very bad human resource...
