Sorry to hear about your encounter. Hope it gets resolved soon. With regards to courtesy cars, AB is usually quite helpful even though it might not be of equal spec than your own car. For eg. A few years ago when my E46 325i had a problem and was out of action for 2 weeks, AB provided me an E36 328i. Then later on when I bought my E92 and delivery was delayed after I sold my car, they loaned me an E90 325i for almost a month. That helped to appease my displeasure cos I just can't do without a car. I sense that with so many problems being reported even here, there was just not enough courtesy cars this time round.

hi JP,

ur experience wt the SC's seems to b pretty good. im just guessing...im sure they know who are you "here" and also your loyalty to the brand over the years. im very sure they dont wanna mess wt u or ur car. ur influence and respect to/from this forum is huge. Again im just guessing, correct me if im wrong.:top:

cheers

Yes, I do realise that. I wonder though, have you been extended a courtesy car?

yes i have been driving the loaner 320i for 3 weeks already.

Juan Powerblow and bimmerdude,

I am just simply amazed that you guys out there can get a courtesy car ...... I sent in my E46 318i for major service to change the gear box last year ( I sent my car for them to service for many years) and I was without a car for 3 weeks and no courtesy car....... Can you guys out there tell me who we can speak to in AB to get a courtesy car???? They just keep telling me there is no courtesy car.....????

Actually whether you get a courtesy car depends on availability. They usually go to those with engine or gearbox issues but sometimes they're just all out, so unless one of the managers is willing to let you have his company car, there's just no car to loan you.

Another thing is that if I had the issues you and a few others are facing here, I wouldn't be talking to anyone except the new BMWM MD, Geoff Briscoe. Even if I have to go to Cyberjaya to thump at his door. And I would demand that he get the AB Sg Besi Branch Mgr to loan me his red E90 M3. ;)

I have been motoring for more than 20 years, never once get to use a courtesy car. There's a motor insurance I believe advertise by AAM, u pay a small premium a year and when ever your car breaks down, you'll be provided with a loan car.

The courtesy car from the BMW service dealer I believe for condition that your car need more than 1 day to repair and priority given to warranty issue. Build a good relation with your salesman helps, at least he/she can loan us their car.. I know mine would if I insist.

I also think the courtesy cars are prioritised according to the type of customer. If u have a E92, or X5, u get to jump queue over the "poor" 320i fellas.. :(

AFAIK, AB glen has the most courtesy cars and so more likely available there. it also depends on ur luck. sometimes there are just not enuf to go around. and normally it depends on the service supervisor's discretion. if u have good relations with ur Sales Person, that wouldn't hurt too :)
however, dont expect to get a courtesy car just bcos ur old classic needs an oil change la (no offense to classic lovers here ah) hehe

I don't think that's true astro, although some titled and royalty type people may get preference over us (human nature) I think it's based on the type of problem and length of time and availability. You won't get one if it's an elective job.

Don't email bro. Google BMWM, get the office no, and phone him. Be persistent with the layers until you get through. :motz: He's Ozzie and should be a personable guy if you get through to him.

OH....I have to be Thankful to Ingress
First service, The SalesCon came to collect from my office and gave me a replacement car.
Second time, for software upgrading, I send in to D'sara. However was chauffeured back to Shah Alam in a 5 series.

Human nature?! Yeah rite! That's true when it comes to who talk and bang the table the loudest, perhaps throwing chair too.. :motz:

For shy people like me... "man-man-tang" :(

Well, I won't be surprised if priority is given to VIP customers or those who have bought higher range cars. However, to share on my own experience, this has more to do with a strong relationship with my SA. It started professionally but over the years, I found her so helpful that I have introduced other happy buyers to her and todate, bought 2 cars from her myself. She also happens to be a veteran with AB, maybe having been around before the bosses joined. In the end, I think she makes a good case for me to the Branch Manager. For that I'm ever more grateful. The 2 prior incidents I spoke off relate to warranty claims for my E46 which took 2 weeks to rectify and late delivery of my E92. Also, it's lucky timing. The time I got the E90 for a month, there were just so many demo cars around.

It's fair to say then that getting a courtesy car is not an expected norm but rather exceptional depending on the many factors discussed here. Sorry if I gave that misconception earlier. Also, I can guess this only works where you ask for a courtesy car from the dealer you bought the car from. So, it's not reasonable to expect a courtesy car from Ingress if you had bought your car from AB.

Courtesy is an act of kindness or favour performed with politeness.

If you believe that a courtesy car is "expected" , then perhaps you should think again. From the perspective of AB or any other firm, it is not a guarentee, merely a circumstancial favour as JPB has rightly pointed out.

Ps. I have never used a courtesy car even though my firm has bought 4 cars from them in the past 1o years.

Courtesy car?? I have requested them for it 2 weeks before i sent my car in but until today they still says none available...really #^@*#@!!!

thanks walkman. will keep u updated on my situation.

Man, you should send this Stephan dude an email ASAP.

Auto Bavaria has been F@#*@! up BMWs for years. Ask any original E36 CKD owners... I have heard horror stories about brand new cars going dead , mirrors falling off, bumper parts falling off...E39's with exploding thermostats, door handles breaking off ..... the list goes on and on. And these are only the ones I know of personally...

The sales staff, after sales staff and service staff don't know JACK SH*T.... The whole organization is poorly run. It's a disgrace to the BMW brand; the way they handle customers and their cars and how they put together the cars in the first place.

I WILL NEVER EVER buy a car assembled by BMW Malaysia.
