So wobbles, remember not to lower your F13 spring if you plan to drive it up to Malaysia...

Ya bro EL118, I've been reading many flash floods in KL - so sad :(

No idea...I'll email them.

by default, no. It's an optional cover n costs 0.5% of desired sum insured. Usually, SA will lump in windscreen cover but very rarely, include special perils coverage, unless requested cos it's considered pricey by many n premium is not subject to NCB discount

any contact at etiqa insurance bro? do they have free towing?

No contact - I just called the call centre (1300 13 8888).

Yes, they have free towing (to one location, e.g. your house). But if you want them to tow it a second time (for the same incident), e.g. the next morning when your workshop is open, they will charge. Which is why I also have AAM membership :)

Recently I needed to tow my car to workshop after my radiator leaked only to find out the towing was not included in my policy and had to forked out RM130.

Called up Allianz and they told me that I only need to top up less than RM10 for the free towing. Gave them a piece of my mind for doing an Airasia thing on me. We paid premium in thousands and they can't just include/hide this in it.

Apparently this this the norm and all this while my regular insurance agent always added it in without even me noticing it. Unfortunately for this car it was handle by a third party agent.

not weird..but lucky u bro...hehe

sry to hear about your problems bro, but you really shoudlnt be attempting to drive with water level pass your numberplate, hope your can can be fixed with minimal cost

tips for driving tru floods

-if u have no choice, switch to lowest gear, never take your foot off the accelerator, if u keep constant pressure then water will not back flow into your exhaust if water level is higher then exhaust outlet
- do not speed and try to rush tru the flooded area, going fast creates a bow wave that increase the water level (i was with Ford, we had 3 Rangers disabled when journos rushed into a shallow river and the bow wave created destroyed the radiator fans)
- if your car dies in middle of flooded street, DO NOT attempt to restart the car...doing so will just cause your car to further ingest more water. get out and try to get help to push your car to one side

if u come back and find your car in flooded area...leave the car there if water is above bumper level...it will be fine once its dried out..if u try to start it, u kill your engine

it just happened to mine. now at BMW ingress for engine replacement. Wife drove thru flooded area few weeks ago and i guess the water rushed thru the engine thru the air filter inlet. lucky already inlcude flood cover in the recent insurance renewal. lesson learned - avoid flood area. if has to drive thru even low level flooded area, make sure drive slowly, dont engaged the turbo....

Sad to hear that. You are very wise to include flood cover. At least u have some piece of mind when it comes to the financial cost of fixing the damage. Hope all could be remedied.

where did this happened? bros, as being told by the driving instructor from BMW last few weeks ago at quill , all bmw shall not passing through a water deeper than 5 inch...so be alert to the water depth..do not passing thru..ever...all u can do is just wait at the safe place. Fully switch off...our Efficient Dynamic is the main reason why our air suction being design lower than before...so buy a flood coverage if you dare to go through the flood...

Correct, was told not to go beyond 5 to 6 inches. Aiyo, most of heavy rain nowadays is a high. Sux la

Hey all, just got back my car today. You cannot imagine the relief when my car passed the compression test with flying colors...apparently zero damage n the engine is purring away like before *sigh of relief* overall 3.5k damage to the wallet consisting of total system flush x 2 + lubes + filters x 2 and misc. Towing was also charged as it was not due to mechanical malfunction but rather wrath of god. Miss my torque...miss my baby...kudos to Beamer for settling my car promptly just before Xmas...time for some insurance topup

Now that's one tough engine!

Yeah......flood cover is 0.5% of the car's value-so for a 200k car it will cost you an additional premium of MR1000. How many of you guys took it and are gonna take it in the next renewal besides Ghaz bro?
