Thanks DD! Trust that you know I never intended to slight the present committee at all. I merely wanted everyone (particularly, the future committee) to be enlightened on the "serious" tasks ahead, members' expectations and on a happier note, how great this Club can be if targets are achieved!

Bro, we've come a long way. Constructive comments such as these are always welcomed with arms wide opened. As long as it's done in a proper manner, the committee is grateful to have members like yourself.

What JPB has stated is spot on. being in the committee is not a walk in the park. It's not something glamorous. It's a hot kitchen in here. So whoever coming into office, get your fireproof suit and fire extinguishers ready. :top:

this club can move forward by being a for-profit org. this is the only way i can see the club being relevant in the future. maybe you can sell the rights to ACS or Breyton(example). but to do this it need a full time management staff and this means investment. it needs to add more value to it's members(many ways to do this), we can manufacture BMWCM exclusive items to do this(maybe not now). there really needs to be full-time dedicated employees with some capital investment to be able to explore all options. it is possible for the club to organize a regional pro-circuit too(example).
i think it's possible, maybe with 1m over 2 years to begin with, you could hire some serious brains . A bank might want to finance this too..who knows

i think it's possible to abolish membeship fees by getting sponsors(ie. 30k p.a.) but we need to distribute newsletters to as many BMW owners as possible highlighting our sponsors' services(example)

Guru, a bit ambitious but it can be done.

but the reason of the forming this club is not for the sole purposes of PROFIT.

i think tie-ing up with sponsors and vendors are important, but even more important is to tie-up even more closely with SA and BA and AB Malaysia. maybe have a "ask the tech" or "ask a BMW specialist" section as many questions asked here are technicallities and such.

yeap

very noble, but the only way IMHE is to generate money to pursue the level the club aspires to be at. all successful non-profit clubs and orgs are the same. they have to grow somehow, and the only way is with money.

Guru

FYI we are a car club governed by a Council of BMW Clubs under BMW AG.
We cannot simply do things to our whims and fancies, like selling the rights to other people because we dont own the rights, the BMW Council of Clubs does, we only own the domain name, and once they take away that rights we will no longer be an official BMW Club and will just be like any other BMW forum or club out there, what makes us different from the others is that we are the Official BMW Club in Malaysia recognised by BMW Malaysia and their subsidaries and they are instructed only to work with the Official BMW Club.

There is already an ongoing discussion on the Club's direction in the Members' Lounge in conjunction with the Club's Elections on 29th March. However, I'm posting this topic here because forumers form the ultimate feedstock for club memberships and if you like where the club is heading, you would want to be part of its success. This can only happen if your views are also taken on board i.e. not just the views of existing members but also future members like yourselves. If not, how else is the Club going to grow? :top:
What would you like to see in the Club? .......... :smokin:

:top: John Powerbulu for President ............kempen jangan tak kempen ...

......you already got yr Campaign Manager is it ... could I become yr 'pegang bendera boy' ? hehehhehehe :listen:

Wow... ada ceramah pun..

If I may add.. membership fee must be the first to be removed! IT'S NOT JUSTIFIED! we don't need a full time salaried committee to service us! We are all BMW enthusiasts and I can offer myself to change your tyre for free if its needed! (labor only la!) .. :D

I know its a chicken and egg situation but seriously I don't see why the club must charge RM150 registration and RM150 annual fee..

Astroboy, last time I checked, none of the committee members are 'salaried'. :listen: There has never been such a thing since day 1.

Let's not debate about the RM150 one-off registration fee. It'll go towards administrative expenses to keep the club going. As for the RM150 annual subscription, those who paid and has gotten official membership status, besides the much-chastized official club merchandise, whenever there is official events that involves some form of monetary participation fees, there will be subsidy. E.g. official members only paid RM50 to enjoy a night of good food and great entertainment, not to mention great lucky draw prizes during the annual dinner and dance at HRC last year. That itself is worth the Rm150. Let's not even talk about the visit to AB's assembly plant. Even money can't buy your way through that. And it's not a regular event that happens every fortnight.

Ini bukan kempen-ing tapi kepala pen-ing. I'm too fat to be President! Hehehe. It's better to choose slim persons! :burnout:

Astroboy,

I think you are off the mark again. I fully agree with DD's explanation.

In last year's Annual Dinner, the club has subsidised at least RM100 for official members that attended the dinner, not to mention the BlackBerries that were given off, lucky draw vouchers from AB worth a couple of thousands and etc. If you take into account of what the Official members paid last year (150 + 75), most if not all has gotten their money's worth, taking into account of the merchandise that goes with it as well. Of course many things could have been done better and there is always room for improvement.

I myself has served in the pro-tem committee. We have sacrificed our time and money getting things done. Like going for meetings to meet up with sponsors, government authorities, BMW Malaysia, Auto Bavaria, SA and etc -toll, petrol, parking and time. And none of us have even touched any $$$ in the club's coffers and you never hear the committee members complained about it. Have you?!!

We did it because we love the club. Likewise, I suggest you to be more realistic and pragmatic in your views. It only reflects badly on you. I can certainly accept CK's and DY's views which are constructive in nature. :)

Whatever $$$ in the bank account, it belongs to all club members and will be used for the member's benefits.

Now, my wish list.

TO have our own clubhouse with pool table and a simple coffee house for all members to LEPAK!!:top:

THIS IS NOT A GOLF CLUB!! and yes, I have not join any golf club, yet I get to go to the green too.. yet, I don't pay RM6k for a club house facility and yet, I get to swim too in public pool for what? RM1?... I just want milk and I will pay for the milk.. but why buy a cow? ... see what I mean..?!

There are many enthusiasts here that wish the club to be run better than it already is.. I love to give u my vote but not the RM300..

HOW?!

We may all drives BMW but not many are fortunate enough to afford a golf club membership and HEY! how many can afford their BMW to be serviced at BMW service center?! Think about it!

You want my service and friendship? I have plenty to offer.. Chinese has one saying... "Talk about $$$, spoil relationship!"

I don't pay income tax also I get to VOTE in the recent 12th Election ma.. :D

So you're looking to be a god damn free loader I suppose. I think I will forward your suggestion to all other official car clubs and perhaps even to the Rotary Club and The Lions Club. I mean they too dont have a club house what !!!! Why pay the RM600 or what ever it is that these foolish souls pay in order to be part of something.

Christ on a bike..... You're unbelievable !!!

LOL! Astroboy, told you already dat day... you dam good lah to cari penyakit... :top:

Went and painted several bullseye on yourself summore... :D

Wow!!... the "devil" and "lord" have spoken.. :D I am still enjoying status quo as many would prefer to call me... "FREE LOADER".. :D

Gee... I wonder what is the purpose of Rotary Club and The Lions Club.. ?? (no answer required..)

Good luck to all who are involved in the coming Election. Whatever the result maybe be, don't fight okay! ;)

"There r many ways to contribute to the club and u may not need to be in the committee.."

"No matter how hard you work, you can't please everyone!!"

"Actually the forum ID has a meaning.. look at what people use for their ID and that pretty much communicated their intentions or characters.."

So you like being labeled is it ? I tought you would only pay for a club that has a swimming pool and milk ready for you to buy what... so why ask a rhetoric question ?

I agree with you tho' that there are many ways to contribute to the club... Start thinking of some way that you might be of use to the club.

Yes Astroboy your ID says a lot about you. Time to get your head out of the clouds for a bit.

This is not a personal attack. Just would prefer it if you think before type.

Gud one lah bro! 110% agree wif u sith.

I have just but one wish.. its a really tough one, but not impossible to achieve, and that is to see a FULLY united BMW community. Before anyone gets this wrong, I'm not saying that we are not united right now, in fact the opposite is true. However it can be better, for both members and non-members alike. All of us just need to be on the same page first.

And that means no more petty bickering, fragile egos, childish behavior, mindless nitpicking and whatnot, both on the forum and off. Just a common desire to have the community soar to great heights...

If this can be achieved, then anything after that point will become possible.

And that is the BIG picture, folks.

Well said bro, but sometimes it helps when you show a lil bit of your fang. Keeps the rats in their holes. You know your wish is everyones wish I suppose. This can only happen when everyone works together with the committee. So heres your chance. Get the right people in place and work with them. I hope everyone thinks like you bro... This club will go far for sure.

Peace
