Read in the Bimmer Magazine (US edition) and also in BMW Car (UK edition) that Piggyback systems don't work on 1.8 engines. Is this true? Something about the 4pots and it being a "basic" engine. Anyone know anything about this? If it is indeed true, then an e46 318 can't be Piggybacked but has to be remapped, right? Thoughts.... views please. Cheers!

isit??? but most of the 318 here r 1900cc... so can the piggyback b used then???? all i need is to get rid of speed limiter.

looking for calvin tan... if he can poison us, will look for him soon ...haha..

Yup! Waiting for the wise man on the mountain to speak - Calvin Tan :yahoo:

After I have modded RedEarth 318i his car now manage to reach 205km/h (or did I heard you RedEarth said 215km/h?) and keep going. Before the mod, he tought it is a limiter on his car too. Can reach only around 180km/h.
What did I do to his car? Well only a Cold air intake and a rear sport silencer.

hmmmm interesting.... tht means change air filter can take off limiter ah or do i need to change the rear silencer too?

bro zoggee, i dont hv any knowledge of rear diff.. wat can i do with it???

Hello.... serong already.

So can a Piggyback be used for a 318?

One thing though...RedEarth's car damn garang sounding. And man, he can really pecut as seen during the Ipoh drive..... :yes!:

Which 318 engine? With or without valvetronic?

If without valvetronic, definitely can use piggyback.

actually ,you ask on the wrong forum.

Why not ask from the manufacturers of the piggyback sytems that you like. Would that be more informative.

or just go Eurocarmotorsports..I'm sure the Boss will gladly help.

yup, bro RedEarth pecut kau kau with tiptronic change all the way...and with his BMC Styled Air Filter + ACS exhaust system + switch OFF aircond sure got big ooomph...........wan!

anyway, back to topic...

Bro, popeadrian..i did a bit of asking around oso..strangely with different views from 2 camps!

Camp 1 : Piggyback on our ride is possible ( quote Mr Turbo Lim of RS Impressive )

Camp 2 : Piggyback won't work as our ori ecu will get smart later and would deem the piggyback useless! This camp suggest a remapped of our ori ecu...i.e. download them, send it to Germany ( so they say ) to have the ori ecu tuned up on the air / fuel ratio etc...2 to 3 days turn around time and redownload the new remapped ecu back to our ride..

Costs : Around RM2k for both camps...and bhp gain around 5%-8%.

I agree with NKTOB :D

:yahoo:
so bro chubby, do u think it's a worthy investment of arnd RM2k for a mere 5%-8% bhp increase for our NA cars?

or as what bro RedEarth do, just switch OFF aircond = gain additional bhp?

or maybe, driving skills like yours...the diff would'nt make u feel them rite bro chubby?

-burger time-
