update - just replaced my ignition coils... slightly better response but the problem persists... look like something major will need to be done. Will be sending the car to the workshop for a thorough check first.

Dan.. put the 1JZ into a old model car.. it's more worth it than a e36 which is still green..

Dan,

The problem you are facing is mostly due to a worn camshaft or worn lifters. The M40 engine is notorious for premature cam and lifter failure.

A tired air-flow meter can also cause such problems. Good luck in taming the beast.

pussy... damn expensive leh... wanna buy a new car just to put the 1JZ? kekeke anyway IJZ is only an option if all else fails... I might want to have the option to sell my car later too..only if I want to keep it long term I'll put the IJZ.
