WoohooI think i have found the solution to my decision about rft/non-rft. Went to Quill today. Met a helpful service tech guy, Hong and i asked him about a spare tyre kit for my car. It cost about rm2400 but it comes with everything including a leather cover plus straps et al. Looks like i'll be changing to non-rfts soon

true true true. Pretty steep. But 4 rfts cost about ( a very rough non-researched figure) rm5-5.5k and 4 non-frt (again, poorly researched figure) is about rm 2.4-2.8k thereabouts. Works out to the same thing i reckon.

I wonder how effective are those liquid rubber stuff ... used along with a small air pump. Of course for tears means gone case la ...

Original BMW brand new wheels at that kind of price.. ok lor.

I claimed my 1 piece of my Avanza 14" alloy rim from UMW Toyota because of a deep scratch.. RM2,500 :stupid:

Liquid sealant can't work when there's side wall puncture because it just spins on the tyre rolling surface, RFT still the best.. bullet proof! :top:

Bullet proof ... noisy ... harsh ride ... costly like hell ... what else? Worth it? LOL!

the set apparently is quite complete tho i dednt get to see it today. will try to take a pic of it and post it. The set apparently has a spare sapce saver tyre, jack, tyre bag, harness to hold it down. something like that. will try to update

Great that u're changing to nonrft :top:,but at 2,400? A bit too steep IMHO.
Last time i heard someone bought the very same kit like you mentioned (original bmw stuff) for circa 1500ish. I dont know where but as for my case,i just got myself a space saver tyre from an e46 with jacks(also bmw genuine stuff) for less than 500 bucks.i just got to tie them down tidily, minus the leather cover etc.but for what i paid for,it helped me a good few times when my tyre punctured.

I thought that Lim Tayar etc were selling the spare tyre kits for like RM1K+ ... was it not mentioned in some thread in this forum?

Thinking of this as well cuz a mobility kit just doesn't give me peace of mind especially when driving to rural areas or balik kampung.

Super heavy... my E90 take forever to hit 200kph but with conventional tubeless, I hit 3 climaxes from KLIA terminal to the toll booth.. :4:

The mobility kit is M$680, from Ingress Auto. It came a electronic pump...quite useful.

Got my mobility kit from Jusco for less than RM50...comes with pump, jack and a kit to seal the puncture...yet im still looking for space saver tire for peace of mind...will jalan2 chop shop whenever i'm free to look for e46 spare tires like namidub does hehe

There is another solution - I carry a tire repair kit - the type with the sticky threads and 2 sharp tools - one to grind the puncture hole slightly and the other to thread the repair threads into the hole.... Just like the cheaper version of how tyre shops repair punctures.... And an air pump...

That way you can temporarily repair the puncture and add air on the spot.... ANd get to a tyre shop to do a proper repair patch from inside the tyre.

Messy and harder work but it works... I had to use it more than once to do temp repair.

Of course that still doesn't help with sidewall punctures...
