Dear all, I'm new here and my E90 is new to me as well.... 4 wheels driver previously, can't do the "magic climb over" with the RF low profile tires... Here's a few question to the expert here as this's how the dealer hand over the car to me "Ok, put in the remote control and start the car, here's the RM50 petrol voucher. DONE! " and that's it. I dun even know when the first service and I only realise this car dun come with spare tires.Q1: As a normal driving driver, how many KM can the tires stand?Q2: When shld I go for the first services?Q3: Any "must know" issues? Thanks!:)

I'll answer your question, but the rest of the E90 gang will shortly chime in...

1) The standard RFTs should last you at least 30,000 miles. I have 15k miles on my Bridgestone EL42s before I retired them for winter sets and they look almost brand new.

2) The car will tell you when. There is no fixed service interval. They didn't tell you this? My first free scheduled service was called at 13,500 miles. I'd do an out-of-pocket unscheduled oil change at 7,000 miles (half way point) to be safe. Just make sure not to reset the OBC.

3) Don't forget to adhere to break-in period. The full maintenance plan covers everything but tires, fluids top up and alignment.

Happy E90'ing.

I am assuming you purchased your E90 from Autobavaria? If yes, then I am very surprised. The sales person explained on some basic functionality, how to use the key-fob, the location of the spare key-fob, and of course spare key and how to use the spare key with the spare key-fob.

My 2 cents:

1) RFT tyres should last around 40,000 to 50,000 km depending on which brand of RFT tyres came with your car, and of course how you drive your car.

2) The first service should be 1 year or whatever your on-board computer tells you, whichever comes 1st.

3) None that I know of

THanks for ur 2 cents. Of course, looking at the prices of RFT (Continental), I drive as normal as I can. Went to a shop in SS2 just now, second hand 18in ac type 4 rim selling for RM1800, is that a good prices? thot to change to normal tires.... Thanks

BTW, my car not taking from AB.

RM1800 for ACS 4 means they should be replicas. Can't comment on the prices. Changing RFTs to regular tyres should be fine as it has been done before. Do purchase does tyre puncture fix kits as our E90 doesn't come with any spare tyre or car jack.

dannis, you would spend RM200-300k on your E90 and then want to spend only RM1,800 on a set of 2nd hand immitation rims? Why?

...errr because he already spent 200-300k on the car :p  lol

Well like anything else on the market, there's a wide disparity in quality. There are quality replicas and there are bad replicas. It all depends...I'd have no problem putting quality reps on my car, heck, I was even considering CSL reps at one point before getting the 197s.

dannis, make sure the wheels offsets fits the E90.

Does RM1,800 sound like quality replica set to you?

He said used...it might be, I dunno. Now, if he said RM1,800 brand new then we have a problem ;)

Thanks to all, I just find out the rims is replicas set and the salesman did told me is tawanese made. Actually I'm not very sure about the quality as well... most probably not going for it and get myself a tyre puncture fix kits and change to normal tires on my next tires change. Seem M bodykit last night, just thot the original rim dun suites the M look...

Anyone using any Captor or Guardnet GPS system? Lost 1 of my car last 2 months. just thot to install some security features.

Thanks!

Actually both meetoo and KL2DC r right! Can afford a new car but can't afford for a better rim... but just spent the money for car and new year :p

I had a talk with friends this morning, according to them, only few shop selling RFT in Malaysia.... Let say we r heading to Penang from KL and tire puncture in before Ipoh, will the 150KM enough to go Penang or back to KL? Dun seem the practicality of using RFT in Malaysia.

I don't mean to say it like that dannis. It just don't make sense ler to have a nice new car but change new original rims for cheap 2nd hand replicas! Better if you wait until can afford better stuff isn't it? :)

If not mistaken, 150km is over limit for riding on puncture RFT isn't it?

Ya meetoo, this is what I thot too... save some money and go for original...

From the manual, is written 150km and not exceeding 80kmh

I waited close to one year to upgrade to 18"s...(well the weather held me back) we were on the same boat. :D

Here's my take on the GPS locator. Save for carjacking (knock on wood) these cars are quite hard to steal with its rolling code drive away protection system in place (basically an immobilizer). I'd save the money for other things BUT if it makes you feel better, then so be it.

I'll skip on the wheels as well. They sound subpar.

You can prolong the range just as long as you keep on pumping air into the tyre. The ranges are for driving with zero pressure. Keep in mind this is for the more common nail in tyre scenario. If you have a complete sidewall breach, well, even the RFT won't get you far. Best call roadside assistance in that case and flatbed car to nearest dealership. Also its not a bad idea to have a latex fix-a-flat sealant and airpump in the car especially when going long distance.

bros..i have a few thinking:

1. Weird, Ab glenmarie salesman told me that they includes the tire for the 60k service & maintenance, how to account this?

2. I'm not afraid of small nails...the RFT can bring me to reach penang, find any tire shop and fixed up a seal on the RFT, should be able to work find after that right?

3. Assume my car is new and I get into a big torn on my front-left RFT (hopeless to seal and recover), well then i need to replace it with a non-RFT spare tire (on a spare rim from boot) half way in the high way.

When I reach penang, i know that my front-right tire is RFT and the left one not, so I do need to replace the RFT at my front-right. Yes, install new normal tire to the previously flatten rim, apply to front-right so both my tires are now non-RFT, and both are new.

Consequently, both my front rims are with non-RFT and rear rims are RFT. Is this ok kah?
Also consequently, i will keep that 1 RFT spare tire in boot, it can be applied if any tire got flatten.

Hmm, is this the best plan? Lastly, where can i find the 325 sport's stock rims? how much? Will there be any chance all the bimmer rims in 18" weight the same? :D

WE WISH!

Yes, but bear in mind that once a tyre is punctured before, that will be the weak point of the tyre, I won't recommend high speed driving using it. I won't even recommend it for the front, best is pasang it at the rear scared it will burst. Its a recipe for tyre explosion.

Its a big scarifies of both boot space and chassis weight.. FC and pickup suffer. What for?

Hmm, is this the best plan?
No. Best plan if to go to SC and get 1 or 2 new RFTs.

Lastly, where can i find the 325 sport's stock rims?
BMW dealers, brand new.

how much?
About RM2k each rim.

Will there be any chance all the bimmer rims in 18" weight the same?
No.
