120mph..... wow... that is real fast man...

Needed to get to and back in a hurry.... :D Needed to maximize 'losing money' time LOL

The OBC measured avg speed of 80mph/24.5 mpg for the 2 a.m. AC to DC run...I don't condone reckless driving but had a backseat full of cranky and tired ladies :D

Btw the car felt steady even with 16" wheels/tires....and the bi-xenons really come into play at that speed. Also with RFTs having a blowout is far from your immediate thoughts, really makes sense in those conditions.

...hope you got the correct length lug bolts? Did you notice any difference in handling? Please share pics of mod.

Yes, I had the lug bolts changed because the original ones did not fit anymore. As for the handling, I am afraid I have not had the car long enough to draw comparison to what it was in its original guise :D so I do offer apologies here ..... I had merely driven the car 4-5 times and then had the spacers fitted. Am merely going for aesthetics .....

Will try to get some pics over the weekend.

Where did you do it ?

David - I had the spacers fitted at a tyre joint at Segambut Bawah - they are supposed to be Eibach 15mm, although I do not know whether that is significant in itself ......

Mini hijack: I'm in your neck of the woods at the moment, KL2DC, coincidentally also in New Jersey and amazed that you can do 120mph to AC! I see so many HP cruisers waiting to pounce all the time. Been E90 spotting here and in NYC to try and spot the difference in specs with back home, esp WRT wheels. Have only seen a couple so far, all the big trucks and SUVs block out everything else :)

Would love to hire a nice convertible and blast down Route 1 to DC for coffee with you (but commitments don't permit) :)

Equalizer...

just saw your pics...looking good!! The rear wheels sit better in the fenders.

You need to touch up your lug bolt caps to match the fronts. You can either 1) paint the bolts black 2) get generic bolt caps (quite hard to find the size or 3) use Saab 9-3 bolt caps (they're just the right size and should be readily available).

PM me for specific part numbers...

Did bursts of up to 120mph right there on the AC expressway on the way to NJ Turnpike. It was relatively quiet and empty and visbility was relatively good so I decided to punch it. Besides when you have a backseat of cranky and tired ladies, 120mph is not fast enough :D Of course I was concerned with the local gendarmes, but experience told me that the AC expressway (in parts) is relatively safe. The cops seem to congregate in obvious spots so its somewhat predictable but risky nonetheless. I was more worried about deers.

Good speeds can be reached on the NJ turnpike as well (at night). I wouldn't speed on I-95 South, though. Too much traffic and too many cops.

Shoot, would've loved to come up as well but I have a tight schedule. How 'bout we compromise and you come down to Philly for cheesesteaks. My treat :D . You can show me that Impala of yours... :p

Thanks, KL2DC - I do also think that the rear looks better now - and yes, I know I'd have to paint those ten nuts ..... wonder when I'd actually get around to doing it?? :D

I was half-tempted to put on Eibach lowering springs (was quoted RM1200 including fitting) but was discouraged by the fact that it may ultimately affect my warranty. The car comes with a 3-year scheme which includes all wear-and-tear parts except tyres - this means I will be risking violating coverage of absorbers, ball-joints etc. They may just decide to blame the lowered ride if those items do give way ..... no??

(PS - come to think of it, are there still such things as ball joints nowadays?!!?)

Equalizer...this is my solution (as discovered and shared on e90post).

I would have loved to go all the way to DC too, as the highways are so easy to drive for long distances. I guess I saw a lot of cruisers and such because my concentration was way higher than when I drive at home. One is always conscious of the disorientating effect of being in the left side of the car, fast lane being on the left, cross-over when turning left, and so on.

Agree with you that deer are more a problem. Some wandered onto the jug-handle (NJ slang) that I was negotiating near my hotel one night and just stood there in the headlights

Regional car rental company - only had Impalas and Sonatas for mid-size cars. Enquired about the convertible E46 sitting in the lot, but it turned out to be the manager's car :D

Mr Schwepps: Welcome back...now how bout them vacation/business trip pics, eh? :D

No way la! My pixes would be so boring after your great E92 feature article :p

Look forward to spotting the first E92 on our roads. Do keep feeding us BMW info from there. You certainly know future developments well in advance of us here because the car market in the US is the most competitive in the world.

Actually, while I was on the road there, I noticed that there were quite a few 3s and Xs on the roads but not so many 5s and 7s. Is that really the case or did my eyes deceive?

Mr. Schwepps, probably varies by specific geographical location...for e.g. if you were to make a similar observation from Miami's South Beach, you would conclude that the E65/66 outsells the E90 and E60 considerably ;) You would then also conclude that the sales of 22inch chrome rims to be off the charts :D

Thinking about it, NJ has a lot of commuters working in NYC and Philly so you get a lot of investment banker types and soccer mums going for the 3s and Xs. It's demographic guess.
