Hi,I am new to this forum. Probably I ask this question at the wrong place! :wink:Recently placed an order with 320i but after heard many negative feedback from ex 3 series drivers. i.e. RFT not comfort to drive (no spare tyre), not powerful. All reckon me to go for c class. Would be appreciated if I can have your thoughts please.Brian

Bro, first of all, welcome to the forum. You may want to introduce yourself in the newbie section :)

Back to your question, have you test driven both the E90 320i and C200 W204? If the answer is no, my humble suggestion is that you book a test-drive session for both rides, only you can tell which one suits you better, if not best.

Cheers.

If comfort, spare tyre and power are your top priorities, get the Merc. Just like Macs and PCs, u want features, go for PC, Macs only offer u experience no others can. :4:

Yes, Once hooked on to Mac product, very difficult to revert back to Windows.... Just like BMW.

i always standing up for bmw .i among one from merc switch to bmw once u have it will go forever.

briantt,
welcome. I m one of those who tested both the Merc and BMW (and some others), and no prizes in guessing where I ended up....
personally, the MB got me very exited initially before the test drive, but once driven it, don't really yearn to drive it...
the BM, it keeps me wanting more... and more, and more....
some1 once told me, MB is to be driven around, and BM is to drive around!

BTW, do try the 320d, you will definitely won't look back!!

i don't know about c200 W204 but i owned the w202 and also e90 320i.....drive both and i don't think i can spot ant differences and both are excellent...just the w202 is now already become tokwan so sometimes quite emotional compare to younger 320i..so far i'm so happy with the 320i and no doubt about it.....powerless...emmmm..i don't think so but u just can't compare 320i with 325i or 320d....320i still giving excellent power compare to other car that using 2.0 engine

Hi briantt, welcome to the forum. Please allow me to offer my humble 2 cents' worth, in addition to what the brothers here have shared.

The 320i E90 is an OUTgoing generation, the C200 W204 is a present (recently face-lifted & improved) generation car. You must be aware that the new F30 (3-series) is coming out, and with it, many new technological advances - including Head Up Display etc. Very quickly, and almost overnight, your brand new E90 might no longer seem as 'new' when that happens.

Objectively, the E90 only has 161hp, and produces 210Nm of torque. The W204 will push out 181hp and racks up 270Nm of torque. That's actually quite a significant difference in pulling power in the 2 base model 4 potters.

Given those numbers, the E90 might end up feeling a little sluggish about town.

Have you considered the 320d? For the same 2L engine, it provides a lot more torque at 380Nm! That's a real nifty city shifter!

ya, with 320d u can travel more than 1,000 km in a single tank. Can also upgrade it with power kit for MOAR POWARRRRRRR at 420Nm without sacrificing the fuel consumption. So 320d can tarpau C200 and C250 anytime. Where to get laaaa

Yes, I agree Rozaidi bro. The 320i is a good 2L car compared with the other petrol 2L engines cars in the market e.g. the 2L Civic, 2L Inspira etc. Its not bad for a 2L engine powerwise!

when i compared with civic 2.0, it seemed iVTEC has more power. Maybe 320i has better insulation so that somehow affected my judgement.

just feel not fair when people keep condemning and comparing 320i with a bigger engine when i feel the car is excellent...poor my baby!!! Papa will fight for you...

The 320i may have a lower HP or torque rating...but it has well balanced weight...which means you could feel a better acceleration with your BM than those heavy body big engine cars. I am proud owner of E90 320i...

Furthermore, there is a lot of hype about F30 currently...and it is just because all the reviews are based on the high spec version. So, a F30 320i may not be as great when it reaches Melaysia...

F30's 4-pot engine will be turbo charged 2.0L and will carry the badge of 328i due to the >200HP.. :4:

Haha... I'm not chasing for power or speed.. My current 150HP base line BMW gave me more than enough speed and power to screech through all my favorites corners.. never fail to put a grin on my face.. :4:

If power is my priority, E90 335i seems to be a much better alternative than the F30 328i.. yet, how much more faster can a 335i do in the corner than my 320i? :48:

Agree with u Astroboy. I came from Honda 'camp' and my last ride before E90 was Civic FD. Never regret getting 320 and it has never put me down. The car has a balance power and the feel of driving is more rewarding than driving a Honda. It has adequate power and fuel efficient. It can easily do up to 200 kmh and of course 325 6 potter can go further more easily. But comparing 320 and 325 for a driving speed below 180kmh I can say the achievement is almost equal. Of course 325 has a better 6 potter sweet engine note but it's a bit high on fuel consumption, anyway it's a trade off.
During the ownership, there's a few times considering a merc C230k sports W203. Eventhough It has a decent 193 hp , but after test driving, I it still like the feel of BMW even it is not so powerful.
