Hi,
Would like to know whether my assumption/understanding is correct or not ,

1.Both Engine oil 5w/30 or 5w/40 could be use for N52 engine.
2.Fuel Filter/Air Filter/Micro Filter need to be changed in alternate service
3.Air Filter could be swapped with K&N air filter with no side effect.

Thanks in advance for your kind advice

My Ride 530i 2010 e60

1. yes
2. fuel filter @ 50k kms.Air filter and micro filter on condition.dirty-change...(these are my personal preferences)
3. If it's the drop in filter shud be ok but not the cone type oil impregnated filter.could contaminate the MAF sensor.

Tq bro for your advice. Just checked with Bavarian Auto and the price quoted is

1.Engine oil (BMW) - RM43/L (7 liter shld be enough?)
2.Oil Filter -RM50(Ori)/RM 20 (OEM)
3.Air Filter - RM52
4.Fuel Filter Complete set - RM 293
5.Micro Filter -?

How much is K&N drop in filter? Have u use it before and what is the advantages using it?

Thank You

i got my BMW super power engine oil 5w40 at RM30/litre from BA SS2... 7 litre is good enough for initial fill up.. u can buy extra 1 litre in case you need to top up... micro filter should be around RM100 for 2pcs..

take note this BMW engine oil is LL-98 rating. just to share my experience, I previously used Castrol Edge 5w40 and required to top up 1 litre upon hitting 8k km mileage.. i'm monitoring it now, if no top up is required this round then i may stick with this bmw oil. otherwise i may consider to switch back to those LL-01 or LL-04 rated oils..

Bro Jason, just curious is the engine oil quoted by BA segambut to me is different from the one you bought at BA SS2 as there is RM13/litre price difference?
For info my car last service by AB @ 56k and now @65.6K. So far no top up required. Based on records, BA using BMW Longlife motor oil, is it
5w30 or 5w40?
What is your interval for microfilter and fuel filter change?

Thank you for your info.

5w40 should be super power type LL-98 (RM30/litre).. 5w30 should be LL-04 (i'm not sure the price).. microfilter - just changed it if dirty upon inspection.. i never change fuel filter before.. haha.. i will change it the next for sure..

Bro, just checked with AB. There are using BMW motor oil 5W30.As my last oil change were using 5W30, so i shall stick with that since after 10k there is no need to top up.
Any idea what is the price for K&N air filter and what is the advantages compared to standard air filter@RM52?

Thanks

yea better stick with that.. i suppose K&N air filter should perform better than stock, however i have not used it for my E60 yet. as other friends here suggest, you need to get the right specs otherwise it may harm your MAF sensor.. i used it on my previous japanese car and it was just awesome..

Hi, I intend to change my RTF Tyre (245/55/17) to Non RFT which don't have the so call "star"?? It is safe?? BMW only recommend RFT. RFT is quite bumpy as compare to non RFT.
Anyone can advise? Also what is the cost like?? Worth for it...the life span of RFT is longer...can last up to 4 years compare to non RFT 2 to 3 years :67:.............

I've changed from RFT to non RFT tyres. I feel non RFT is more comfort oriented. on performance i believe it should be subjective depends on brand/type of tyres. The fact is, RFT has very stiff sidewall thus less comfort/bumpy ride. The advantage is with RFT you do not need to carry spare tire.

Just replaced front brake pad @ Euro Tech Motoraports.

Textar front brake pad & sensor = RM198 from BA
Labour cost = RM60

Total cost RM258

Hi...after reading Bro UnoS thread on aircon compressor, decided to go to SSG for a check. Changed the valve (RM 650.00) instead of the whole compressor as recommended by some mechanic. Phew..saved me lotsa of money. TQ Bro UnoS.

Found out my radiator is leaking when changing my aircon valve. Can see the coolant mark the the bottom left and right corner of the radiator. Tho the leaking is not really bad (need to top up coolant every 2-3 weeks), i was thinking to get it changed. Any recommendation? Or can it be repaired?

Hi Bro,
Issue like sometimes blow warm air. I changed the valve during Deepavali and now is "freezing" cold. hehe.

As to the radiator, Albert of WP Auto was at SSG and enquired about my case. He said the damage is ard RM 1k and need to change a hose if this is my 1st time changing. Is that reasonable?

Another mechanic (he does a lot BMW) says need to change the radiator cover only. Now i am confused leh. That's why post here to seek advise from the Sifus.

Just send my E60 for windscreen change cos hit by stone at BMW IA,Puchong (coz they able to arrange for insurance claim-avoid the hassle of documentation):-

e) Sika Flex - 32.50
f) Sika Aktivator - 43.00
g)Sika Primer - 206 G+P- 78.00
h)Labour cost - 600
i) 3M Tint Cristaline 40 - 800

At the same time also ask to service my car which had done 99,950km (first time to IA, previously I normally send to AB).

a) Filt Element - FOC
b) Syntium 3000 LL01 5W-30 (6.5litre) - RM600
c) Service - Std Scope - FOC
d) Engine oil service - FOC
TOTAL : RM 600

I ask to change my ATF as well since I never change it but was advise that no need to change it now as I miss the scheduled change at 70k km. If I change now may have problem with the car. The service advisor ask me to change at around 110k km. Why is it like that?? It is true?? I don't want my gear to be condemned after that!! Anybody can advise?? The service advisor seem not very technical sound :68: :56: :56: :56: !!!!

:64: huiyo...so expensive the windshield.

He He....go get a new SA.Change at 99950km kenot but change at 110k kms ok.He is technically incompetent.
You car has done approx 60k miles...so that's about an ok mileage to have the atf fluid replaced. If you have done 160k miles then that's another story that you can google where a fluid change at this mileage may damage the gearbox.
