Dear Members,

I just purchased five year old E60, 520d with a mileage of 100,000km. I would like to seek advise on preventive maintenance. My questions are as below:

1) Breakdown - What are the Top 10 breakdown causes for this model?

2) EWP - Which are reliable EWP Workshops for this model in Klang Valley and Kuantan?

3) BMW Official Service - From my research at the old club website, Wearnes and Quill have good reputation as Official Service Dealers. Do their good reputations still stand and are there any others that are equal or better?

Cheers and much appreciated!

Donno...I am sure by googling you will find the answers :67:

Wat's EWP? I recommend Optimum Auto in Damansara Kayu Ara.I have been with them for at least 15 years.

Forget dealers. You will get slaughtered. :68:

Windshield washer bottle hose....RM110.
Requires the airfilter box and bottom engine cover to be removed (to route the hose)
The top protion crumbled ...

Phew....per my post above...I removed the air filter box for access and conveniently forget to reconnect the MAF sensor connector and to tighten the air hose jubilee clip upon completion of the windshield water hose replacement.

So went to Rembau last night.Car started fine?Hmmm...but gear change on decelereation was rough. Also when I shift the gear from D to N at traffic lights the rpm went up 1k rpm and came back to 600rpm....OH OH!The drive to and from Rembau got me thinking what else cud be wrong with this car.Even prepared myself mentally to have the car towed to my house if it breaks!

This morning after prayers...bammm....I remembered the airfilter box removal the previous day....reconnected everything and all is well again.

Hmmm....the car can be started and driven with the MAF sensor connector not connected. And it did not bring up any error on the I drive.Interesing......

Aaaaa.....now I understand the reason it's called a vibration damper....

wow....the outer pulley has totally detached from the center hub...hence no power steering nor alternator.the 530d has elect water pump?else you will have overheating as well....and wow it is freakin expensive!!!

Battery AGM Original changed at Mspeed USJ and programming RM 2100.00
aiyoooo....my eyes watering looking at the numbers...i gues you have the later model e60 hence AGM (absorbed glass mats) battery.

mine uses FLA (flooded lead acid) and replaced it for rm550 (Century) in june 14.

but is it not a matter of coding and registering the battery if we were to change from AGM - FLA vice versa?

really....AGMs are designed mainly for rugged use where the car is thrown all over and not having electrolyte in the battery is desireable.

bro..this msg appeared AFTER the batt chg at mspeed?surely Kenny must have registered the battery?

looking at the description of rectification done @ AB....the door lock maybe causing the message?

What is a door carrier and what does coding a remote key involve?Did you get a new key?

Yes he did but the high battery discharge is still there. After diagnosis by Kenny again, the door carrier is the thingy behind the door lock is leaking current. It's coded and that's why Kenny suggest to send back to AB. Changed door lock and AB suggest the CA fob too. Anyway, it comes with 2 years warranty.

Carrier code: 51217169174
