Hi guys, would like to ask everybody who has experience with E60 air cond. My car air cond keep blowing hot air at first but after jalan it becomes normal. Hot whether is the worst, takes slightly longer to become normal.

Any idea what is the problem? by the way one of the air cond shop in sunway told me it is the radiator problem and quoted me RM2,2k+ for a replacement.
Need advice. Thanks!!!
Not sure if radiator got anything to do with air cond? To me, it's either the compressor or cooling coil. I suggest you get Naidu, 0192110554 to check it out. He operates behind Shell station, Jalan Gasing.
He is reputed to be the best in town!

sorry bro i was thinking of radiotor while typing. it is the compressor. thanks for correcting and the information!

These days, many "mechanics or so-called experts" will take you "round & round" and waste all you time & money and yet the problem never get resolve!

after a week the dealer ask me to collect the car my self...u know where? after go here n there n travel one hour, he ask me to collect just behind my shop.....got one aircond shop there....adussss.....

Just changed my radiator after finding water on the garage floor.

Radiator Rm 800
Thermostat Rm 80

Is that a good price?

Just to share with the rest of my recent "damages"..........

1. ATF change RM 49 x 7 litres
2. Filter RM 296 and seal RM 98
3. Radiator BEHR RM 800
4. Coolant RM 38
5. Labour RM 200

Grand total RM 1775

p/s: for those who are still debating and contemplating whether to change their so-called manufacturer's "long life ATF claim", I strongly recommend you to do it as the gear changes are much smoother and overall drive felt somewhat "lighter"

I did mine at WP Auto, Pandan Mewah (Albert Fang 012-2017792, GPS N03 07.737. E101 46.133)
I bought the ATF oil and filter while the rest provided by mechanic.

Btw, any reason why we should change the radiator even when it's still working fine? :) I was never recommended to get it changed, lol

bro,
Of course, you don't change anything if it's not leaking. Normally the problem starts with topping up 200-300ml of coolant weekly. If there are no leaking from elsewhere than it could be the radiator?
For mine, there were spots of leaking at the side of the radiator and "Engine Overheat" sign appear occassionally at the iDrive.

Oh I see :) Thanks for the clarification bro. I thought it's a regular routine for BMW cars to change radiators because I see so many of you changing it, lol.

As long as you buy a bimmer, the maintenance is going to be high. Does not matter if it's a 520, 523, 525, 530, 545, 550..... As long as you don't go overboard with the mods, the maintenance cost is about the same across the board. Heck, my 325 I had last cost me more than my current 530i because of the 'racun' of mods and thus more things to repair and maintain in the 3 series. Now with my stock 5 series, I just have to drive and maintain as per needed. Parts are also not overly expensive as long as you go to a reliable mech. As in other threads, other parts in Japanese models may even cost more!

Recent bills on my E60:-
1. Replace front brake pad (RM450) and sensor (RM55) plus labour RM40;
2. Replace leaking hose which is situated right on top of the radiator (RM160) plus labour RM35;
3. Replace water pump (leaking and making funny noise) for RM250 excluding labour;
4. Respray front bumper (silver colour) RM220;
5. Of course not to leave out 2 summons for RM150 each :)
