Hi All,

Driver side rear window failed at open position (cable broke). Decided to also change all my suspension at the same time. Found 3 with leaks and bouncy drive.

Joyful Spending

4 suspension - front and back with all cover (boot) and mounting - Boge for M-sport (SGD 1500 ~ RM 3600)
power window lifter - SGD 130 ~ RM 312

Workmanship RM 400

Car drives totally different... Old suspension was totally out... :)

Cheers,

Hi, may i know where can get Boge for Msport? Which type of Boge?

Bro, it seem you have a lot of xperience on this 5series. Need your advise on 5 series E60 that I'm hunting now but confuse/worries to consider which one? 520/525 or others? Also to consider on "Maintenance Cost" since in the forums shown a lot of problematic and cost incur for this model. Please email PM to zairel679@gmail.com

Both models are good choice. It depends on how much you are comfortable to invest initially? Believe me, by asking whether it's going to be a 520i or 525i...etc, you would get replies "go for higher cc". Some will even recommend you 530i :)
Zairel,
Go and test drive both models and assess which one you feel more comfortable with as the service & maintenance cost are about the same. Road tax difference is around RM 324 per year. All said and done, you should prepare to put aside an average RM 600-800 per month to keep this model.

Put aside $600-$800 p.mth is preparing for what purpose ye?

bro,
Just take a look what the rest of the members shared in this forum for service & maintenance charges. Just tally up the cost by harisbimmer above and you will realise that the average cost more than RM 500 per month, yes?

Really not sleep well after hearing that price..!!

I tot i posted this already but dunno where:

Problem: i had been receiving 'Transmission Failure' warning on several occasions and usually when going downhill. i don't have any transmission slams or jerking so I have always just restarted my car and the message will go away. I had then since been more aware of my driving style and made sure i did not stress the car too much. Out of 5 times, 4 times I will get the 'Transmission Failure' warning when going down a slight slope from my moms place. I had then since tried to 'press the brake' method and ensured that my leg was at either the acceleration or brakes when going downhill to avoid the message but never 100% effective.

Bigger problem: Last week I had the same darn thing appear again on my screen and this time restarting the car did not make the warning disappear. Thus, I had to go to my mechs. All ready to spend the 4-5k needed to change the necessary, I told the guys my dilemma and pointed out that I felt NO gear jerks or slamming as well. One of the foreman then suggested i change the IBS or negative battery thinghi (with the since i have never done so. Nearly fell of the stool when they told me the price but I figured why not!

Solution: After changing the Negative Cable, I did not really want to 'test' to check if it was really the culprit cause my heart would just sink if the 'Transmission Failsafe' thinghi came out again. Thus I drove my usual style not trying to invoke the wreath of my car. Ultimately tho, I had to go up and down the hill at my moms and I noticed that the gear change down gear had no more drama! Ekekeke....not wanting to celebrate yet, I tried it a few time releasing my feet completly off the brake and acceleration as i went down the hill and...all is well! I drove like a mad person just now as well (not intended, just the way my mood went) and again...smooth power of the car all the way! So I can 'pre-maturely' say....that the culprit was indeed the IBS Negative Cable for me (I really really hope).

Cost:
1. IBS Cable - RM120
2. Negative Cable - RM860
3. Labour - RM30
4. Reset the car - FOC
5. Tyre patching (did not notice i had a huge nail and a slow leak) - FOC

They said either wait around for 3 hours or if I don't want to wait they will take out the parts and I can come the next day for a 30 min installation :)

Anyone else got a cheaper quote??
