Thats why I service every 5k km mileage.

My car would hit 5k km in a few days (counting from the date it was serviced last time before I took it home)

The next service reminder can be set according to what you like. Normally when you go and service, the mechanic sets it for you. It's not an automatic reading by the computer. If you get engine oil is at low levels means you probably have to top up. These magnesium engine are quite prone to such issues. Also check the flywheel oil seal to see if it needs to be replaced.

Thanks. So, it can be defined by the owner? I didn't know this, I thought it was a suggestion by the computer.
So, to topup engine oils, how many bottle do I need? Any other advice of what else should I check? This would be the first service since I own the car.

Bang Dzul, I suggest you not to go with those :) They are definitely not original Brembo but some imitation crap.

I know one of the owners of the company that imports the Brembo parts here. Actually, it is not an imitation but actual Brembo product, but made in China, i.e. outsourced production...

Cheap yes, but quality no good...my friend himself has admitted that after kena so many complaints and claims from unhappy customers. Then again, they buy by the container load, so unit price very cheap, so selling price very cheap.

Simple advice, if the Brembo discs you are interested in is less than RM1k, be careful...

Also look for the Made in Italy or Made in EEC print on box...

If no mention or where it is made, most likely from China.

Currently the computer is not intelligent enough to do it, haha. The amount to top up would depends but it's best that you visit a trained mechanic to get this sorted out for you. If there's something else at fault, you will get error messages on the iDrive but if not, your oil is basically at minimum level and that's all for now :)

Thanks boss for the clarification but I've never seen Brembo making discs for all sorts of car. If it's true that they do, Brembo will be the largest OEM rotor maker because these cheap Brembo rotors are available for all sorts of cars even for Protons/Perodua. It's not convincing at all and I am quite sure that these are not original products because if they do, it will be up on Brembo's official website that they have such products available.

Brembo does make OEM discs, i.e. standard discs without any cross-drilled holes or grooves. They do sell here. You can find the standard Brembo discs for Alfas and Fiats on sale at one Italian specialist workshop in Sunway. The standard OEM front discs for say an Alfa 156 is around RM200, the Brembo Max with grooves go for around RM400++, bear in mind that these prices are discs made in China. The ones made in Italy will be more than double.

These China sourced discs started coming onto the market around 4 to 5 years ago, but i understand Brembo has looked into the matter and they are not outsourcing to China anymore because of the quality. The ones still selling are probably ex-stock.

Also, I wouldn't say that Brembo makes discs for all makes of cars so i dun think they are the largest rotors manufacturer.

I believe they make for European cars but now we're talking about Brembo making for a Myvi, Wira, Waja :) It doesn't sound right to me. I think if we can email Brembo Italy for a clarification then it would make more sense? Just my 2 cents.

Just bought 523i 2007 mileage 65k going 1st service

Dear All seniors,

A brief intro, I'm a first time BMW owner, work in financial industry, early 40s.

Just got a quote from my mechanic in Sunway Damansara, would appreciate comments from all sifus here, thx:

Front brake discs RM390 x 2 = RM780
Front brake pads rm430
Front brake sensor RM70
Rear brake discs RM380 x 2 = RM760
Rear brake pads rm370
Rear brake sensor RM70
Front bonnet logo RM135
Front bonnet absorber rm110 X2 = rm220
Auto oil pump RM395
Front bumper spraypaint RM350 (stonechips)
Coolant RM58
Engine oil RM60 x 7 = RM420
Oil filter rm48
Brake oil RM38 x ??
Auto oil RM78 x 7 = RM546

All in total = RM4690

Hi Superkop, nice to meet you :) Here is what I can comment from the list:

1. You only need 2 brake sensors (one at the front, one at the rear) and normally it's RM50 each.
2. What front/rear brake pads did he quoted you? OEM brands are normally RM190-200.
3. What engine oil is that?
4. Original oil filter is RM30+ normally. RM40 sounds reasonable in my opinion if he wants to mark up a bit.
5. Brake oil is probably not original BMW as well and a normal Bosch DOT 4 is around RM20+ per liter.
6. Auto oil (ZF original) is RM50 per bottle. RM78 means he marked up RM28 or more per liter. In fact I have an extra bottle if you want - RM50 for 1 liter.

That's all I can comment and the decision is yours :) I hope it helps.

Thanks aoch88 and Jerman :)

According to the boss, they will use original BMW parts and oils. I am ok at this point since this is my first service, I will also nego further with him cos that's what my friend does everytime he service his 3 series there. The foreman there is also an experienced BMW specialist. After the next 10,000 km, I don't mind shopping around for anither SC.

Thanks again for the quick n useful response. I will save this info for my future reference.

Good day and I will update all after service.
