Went to optimum to check on some vibration issue, found that the expansion tank bocor...

Coolant all over the place, lucky the car didn't overheat..
replaced new expansion tank: RM350 with labour..

tomoro must go try and balance my wheels...

New exp.tank is around 200 if not mistaken..the cost did include new coolant right? If not, then it seems overpriced to me..

200-250 the most. i changed mine together with new radiator last time. but guess what, the foreman did not even mix in the coolant. i did ask why, he said it makes no difference with or without coolant. i don't want to tell which workshop, but that will be the 1st & last time of my visit.

back home i sucked the water out using a pump that i got from aquarium shop and poured in 2L coolant myself.

Appreciate u guys can give some feed back on this quote I rcvd

Reasonable and some items dirt cheap

Yup as we dont need anti freeze function. I put mineral water only. The best is to flush the water regularly ie every 6 mths.

I also asked the almost same quotation from spare part shop recently.

Ori flywheel oil seal - RM115 (non ori RM45)
Gearbox oil sump gasket - RM30
Gearbox filter - RM50
Output shaft oil seal - RM30
Torque converter oil seal - RM25
Engine oil sump gasket - RM75

Price not much different for Inner Power, Bomin and BA.

What Bilstein absorber in the quotation? B8?

theoretically yes, the main component ie glycol is antifreeze agent and we don't need it since our temperature here never near 0 celcius. but it has other additives that help slow the process of corrosion, erosion & cavitation.

When u use coolant, any sign of leak is easily seen..

Last week, my car's engine just stopped after idling for about 15+ minutes (sitting in the car chatting with the mech about some issue). Managed to kick start it after few tries but kind of worried. After going through some diagnosis work, the device has confirmed the crankshaft sensor is not responding, hence need to replace the crankshaft sensor.

Total Damage: RM300 ....

BTW .. how many crankshaft sensor do we have? and will it breakdown easily?

just wondering where is a good place to take car for a check ups/servicing without incurring major costs if anyone can recommend

if cost is yr main concern, then the e39 is not for you.

it will be cheap...er if you can diy.or if you have good knowledge of things mechanical.if you totally depend on a mechanic....ensure you have a fat wallet.sorry.facts.
