Oxy sensor

Change my oxy sensor cos faulty code indicating that oxy sensor at bank 1 fail. Do in KB the workshop bill me RM640 for ori bmw oxy sensor. Check with Bomin and they quote me RM550.

The fuel pump suddenly give up last morning and the car just refused to start :-( Luckily after a long retry it finally comes alive.
So without any hesitation, i drive my E39 to Heritage (off OKR) to seek help.

After a detailed diagnosis, its confirmed that its not the fuel issue (fuel mixed with water) and its confirmed that the fuel pump has given up on me :-(

Thanks to Yap, the issue get resolved together with some other repairs. Total damage: RM2524 ...
- Fuel Pump (complete set, ori) - RM1400
- Fan Belt - RM160
- Tensional Bearing - RM140
- Idle Bearing - RM80
- Rear Brake Hose x2 - RM100
- Brake Fluid x2 bottle - RM160
- Steering Rack Cover x2 - RM60
- Labour Charges - RM400 (including computer diagnosis)
- Gov Tax - RM24

Had been struggling on whether to change the whole pump or just the core component .. but end up still opt to go for the complete set. So do u think this is a wise decision?

Thanks ..

Regards,
JS

Why changed to a used clutch fan for RM 200 whereas new one is only RM 220?

i know... didnt realised it till checked the forum.. sudah terkena...

Say goodbye to the workshop, we hate this type of workshop! They can never give u good and honest opinion, only looks for money.

Bro ariff, call around first before you commit to any repair work in the future.

Call friends, then check prices in either Bomin, BA, Suan Huat, Inner Power etc to compare the prices.

Keep the phone numbers ready in your phone so you know next time.

Thx guys... will definitely check before giving the go ahead...

i confronted the mech today... he claimed that there is a cheaper brand ETG from Germany selling cheap.. however, will not b suitable and wont tahan lama ... anyone can verify this??

Flywheel oil seal

Guys,

Anyone has replaced the flywheel oil seal recently?
Would like to know the cost breakdown especially on the labour...
i know that it needs a lot of work to change the seal..but what is the reasonable range for the labour cost?

I just sent the 528i e39 to factory (while driving will automatic switch off engine, side mirror gone, engine oil leaking, changing armrest, airbag of seat problem...)
15 years car. Thinking to get it a new paint.
How much if I paint all, and just the exterior? Anyone give me a idea?
Thx

24xxxx km, what engine oil should I treat to it?

My E39 just clocked 333,000 KM and the engine has only been treated with Fully Synthetic 5W40 since released from the showroom.

So depending on what your past history of your car is (what engine oil it was using), i would think it's better to continue using that grade (semi synth or fully synth). I don't see a reason for the switch from semi to fully if your car has been using semi all this while. Save that extra dough for something else.
