being a past owner of an e30,e36 and e46,the one i love the most was the e30.
end of the day,it depends on what you want from the car.i am more of a hardcore power fanatic.naturally the e30 will be my choice as i can put in an M50 in there, stroke it to 3.0 and drive its arse off.the basic chassis and power-to-weight ratio is just fantastic.
the e36 will be a more rounded car.its more comfy and more practical than the e30.a bit more expensive though.so if u need family carrying capacity and also the feel and power of a nice BMW 6cyl,get the e36.u can still mod the car relatively easily and the chassis still affords some good'ol fun.
e46?? stay away..unless u don't plan to do any mods and prefer a junior 5 series.and yeah,ur wife/gf will like it..but u won't.its more of a ladies car.
like someone mentioned earlier, for rm150k u could have 2 cars.a good e36 for family duties and an e30 for your project weekend car.fabulous..
