Power Window Regulator E46

Why does power window regulator gives way? Esp in E46. Whats the reason behind unlike E36 which i used to drive. Is it because of different mechanism or what? Pls explain bros.

Sorry I am not familiar with this term use for a power window. Can you post a picture..

As far as I know, a regulator regulate a ripple in an DC voltage. i.e smoothen it. There are various type of regulators. One of the common type of regulator is of course the capacitor. Other more sophicated regulator are transistor or linear IC type..

So could you be kind enough to show me your regulator..

In the other thread, some people refer a PCM for the air con speed control module as a resistor. I think the resistor is only applied for an E36 because it actually used a resistor to step down the voltage to the motor. For an E46, they use a Power Control Module instead to control the speed of the motor.

sorry your terms is correct. In other country they call the mechanism to open and shut the window a "power window regulator"

E46 use a wire rope and E36 use a solid metal cross brace rack and pinion mechanism.

E46 usually fail when the stupid plastic clip that hold the window pane breaks and it is more stupid that you have to buy the whole mechanism when a small piece of plastic breaks... WTF.. It just like you have to change the car when you got a puncture... I hope somebody can replicate the small plastic things to a stronger material and go and sell it AB and any shop that repair E46 power window..

Thanks Jarence! You're spot on in highlighting my frustration even tho I oni kena one failure after almost 4 years!

jarance ur correct, the same stupid little white plastic that gave way. And it cost RM 380 just to purchase it and workmanship of RM 80. BMW memang (Banyak Makan Wang).
