Bros, today when unlocking my car, all locks were ok except for rear passenger side door. It stayed locked. I could only open it manually via the door handle on the inside. But when car starts off, then it locks as per the other locks. Even using the remote after I have manually opened it, it can lock back like normal. Just cannot unlock only (even if use the door unlock button near middle A/C vent).Read few other forums, say might be fuses. But I checked fuses 2, 19, 56, 57 and 63. All are OK. Well, except I don't have fuse 19 (is this normal???). Am I checking the right fuses? What else could it be? Door actuator? Anyone else face this problem? How much $$$$ to fix? Thanks!

That's a common fault of BMW, you can order from ebay (used) for around RM300 ringgit each otherwise Bavarian Auto sell around RM600-700 each. Sorry no other cheap fix like the jap

it cant be the fuse because you can still close or lock the door. both circuit share the same fuse.

it cant be the actuator as the open and close share the same motor.

there is a high possibility that the problem is due to a worn out contact in one of the relay of the footwell module/junction box.

btw, for e46 the module is call GM5 module..

if i am not mistaken, the front passenger door should be affected as well.

Bro jarance,

Front passenger door is not affected. Only rear passenger door. Where is the relay located? Maybe I can try to tinker a bit to see if it will work back.

Personally I have not work with e90 before. I guess it should be under the front passenger dash board.

Hi guys..was having the same problem 2 mths back.....but its on the front passenger door..i checked the fuse..all ok, initially i can unlock using the door handle, but after 1 week it just jammed, other doors are ok...
When the car hit 20km/hr (when auto lock is on), i can hear a rapid sound as if the knob trying to get out, but somehow it cant....then went to quill puchong and its the door actuator, they quoted me about RM 500 plus for a pair (even though the driver side is ok..and they replaced both side), all in i paid RM 730 for the part + diagnose + labour.

RM 500+ for a pair is very cheap. I was quoted RM700 each for E46 CI

Yup, is cheap. Did mine for RM450 (all inclusive) for that one side only.

Hello,

I am currently facing a similar problem. My driver side cannot unlock. It does not respond to both the handle or the key fob. I had to climb over the passenger side to get out of the car.

Took the car to German Marque and was quoted RM 650 (without labour yet) for the "driver side door lock". I am not sure if this is the actuator or really the entire "lock set".

Does anyone have similar experience?

Most likely the price he quoted is just for the driver side door actuator. RM650 for just driver side door is quite expensive.
