Just my 2 cents (and I'll try not to influence or lobby the outcome):
IMHO, what you have here is a tool (the forum) with no clear objective. OR maybe there is, just not clearly communicated. Hence a lot of wide opinion what actually the forums is for.
Without clear objectives, any decisions made will be made not based on the best interest of the objective but trying to balance the pros and cons.... or worst, a bunch on compromises. In my line of work, I've (unfortunately) see companies invest millions of dollars/pounds/riggit without real hard objectives. And then it becomes a white elepant IF you are lucky. IF you are not, it becomes a nightmare, some times even turning around and biting you back.
Like the famouse mis-quote from Alice in Wonderland "If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there."
You may have a lot of objectives or a few... the more objective you have, the harder it is to control and you introduce more complexity which you'll have to manage. So it is for the CM to decide how much is too much, it's a balance. Then make decisions for actions to deliver those objectives. At least any decision you make then is justifable (i hope) to the objective.
Personally, I think this is beyond the con case scenarios. Even if you had 0 incidences of concase, you still wont answer some of the concerns shared in the last 5 pages.
Anyway, I wish the CM all the best and hope my 2 sens above helps the decision making process. Cheers!
