Hi all,I m zack from kelana jaya.mine is a 320i e90 manufactured 2008.the problem is the car jerks at low speed or when the low gears shifts..few occasions when initiating accelerating after stopping in a queue/ traffic jams, the car wont move forward as if the gear is not engaged. only after revving the engine for about 5 seconds, it start moving with that jerking mode.went to M-Power at jln kuchai lama just now. the mechanic made diagnosis with the gadjet and found to be oxygen sensor faulty. But he advised me to changed the ATF first and see how. Someone in previous thread commented that changing the ATF and reprogramming the gearbox would do the trick. so, need advice from sifus and comrades regarding this matter before making decisions..thank you..

Yes, low on ATF due to leaks and malfunction o2 sensors give those symptoms. Also do a gearbox running temp check as the oil cooler or heat exchanger can be blocked and caused similar issue too. May I suggest you visit the workshop a few lots from m power, ah lai is experienced on this area too

roger..thank you AS..where is this Ah Lai located?

I am having the same problem with my e90 325 2008.. I think I need to see Ah Lai as well.. BTW, Zero One did u manage to solve the problem?

I have the prob too... normally when gear drop back to 1st gear.. will jerk once..

im having the same prob too with my 320d....can feel the jerk during the gear shift in low speed. My car still have BSRI? does it cover this problem?

Go to do the gearbox firmware update, it will take 5 hours to do it. Alternatively, you can do a adaptive gearbox reset (require to drive at highway).. Or do both.

Jwah..where to do firware update?

I read in previous posts that changing the gear oil will do the trick. Does the gearbox needs resetting after the oil change? Anyone done gear box oil change recently?

No the firmware is badly written so it is not adaptive, but eventually the program will lead to a dead end.

HI all,

Just need some view. I have asked my regular workshop, whether they can do the software upgrade (inclusive the gear update) or not. They said, they can but the cost is RM850.

Is this acceptable?

Feels like a bit on the high side in my view....

Usually the main problem would be the faulty solenide ... hv tht changed and your jerks will disappear ...:top:..

Your workshop is charging almost double the price for ECU & Auto Trans software updates. I did mine last month at M-Speed @ USJ for RM450.00

Can we do this ourselves with the OBD tools?
