So any of you all tried the 520d before, what's your feedback?

I have driven the 520d with 5 pax onboard (incl. driver) and the boot filled to the brim with luggage. Perfectly satisfactory for non-spirited travel, didn't feel underpowered for that at all. Handles windy roads just fine. Felt far more stable when taking corners at speed than a C220 CDI (with no passengers/luggage).

Hi Traveler! It's not underpowered, definitely, but if you have driven the 320d before, don't expect the same performance with the 520d despite it's similar 350nm torque. Before the test drive, I thought what's 75kg more in car weight? Of course there was also the BMW guy sitting with me when I drove the 520d but when I slammed the throttle full-down, it just didn't jump like the 320d does. Ha ha one good thing about not being totally enamored about a car is that you don't have to go through the tedious long process of arranging your finances, deciding which car to trade off, who to trade it off for you, talking to the other half about a new car purchase etc etc...

Maybe the F10 530d with 245 bhp and 540 N m of torque with its choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission be a better option for a 5 series with grunt!

So far the feedback we have gotten so far during the BMW Innovation Days have been extremely positive with regards to the 320d which has really impressed everyone with the torque and drivability.

The newer 320d now has 184hp and 370nm of torque, did some test runs with the 325 convertible. All I can say is be prepared to inhale some diesel fumes!! ;)

Get the Nissan GTR bro....

Personally I find Japanese cars to be rubbish. There is no charm or elegance with those blue collar cars. Will have to mod the 3 Series for now, wait till a better offering is available. Its a shame that BMW steering feels very dead this days, they lack a lot of feel and feedback. Must be those "Dynamic Efficiency" electromechanical power steerings.

Hi guys, I am thinking of getting this car but my worry is the quality of the diesel in Malaysia.... is it good enough for the engine? is there any grade for the quality....

many people tell me Caltex diesel is better, less sulphur content and refined in Singapore. Not sure if there is any truth in this. However, I am only feeding my UDM Caltex.

What are your experiences with different diesel brands?

hope... get a 325 sports then you don't have to worry abt diesel quality... ahaha... cabutzzzz....

my 2 cents; test drive the car, if i'm satisfied with the performance and i'm ok with it, i buy the car. and i think BMW already thought of the diesel quality issue. :top:

Don't worry about the quality, BMW already modified the engine to use our diesel.

Hi hope!I spoke with one of the BMW directors and he said the proof that BMW engines can use Malaysian diesel goes back to the 530d which has been introduced in Malaysia since 2007. That time the diesel was not even Euro 2! It was the old diesel and there has been no problems whatsoever, unlike the Mercedes diesel cars which ran into lots of problems. So, don't worry! enjoy the sweet liquid-gold diesel! You go faster, you pay so much less! Doesn't make bloody sense and it's bloody unfair....I feel sooooooo sorry for all the petrol users in Malaysia. My friend's 911 uses 135 ringgit of petrol for a measly 330 kms. Of course, he must be a rich man to afford a 911...but still...rich doeasn't have to equate to being...ummmm...a little stupid, right?:stupid:

I usually buy from Petronas...and I hear ultimately, all fuels(petrol or diesel) come from Petronas...then the other distributors put in their additives and sell them under their particular brands. So, it's all the same! And I also hear Malaysia exports Euro 4 diesel to Singapore!!!!....SO UNFAIR!!!

My boss had been driving his 530d since 2006 and the quality of diesel back then was not even 2M quality, still running fine now with no major problem. Heard there was a problem with mercedes though..anyway, had clocked 11k mileage on my 320d, the power and torque is priceless, at leass for 2.0 engime:top: and the best is u get double mileage of its petrol siblings hehe..go diese!!
