My first service at 12K+. I went back to where I bought the 320d-at Quill. I came in a bit early because of some rattling door noises...the first service wasn't due till 14K km. The noises were fixed with some tape to the car body where the doors meet. It happens with black interiors I was told. I don't know how much it would cost if you deliberately wanted to change your oil earlier at the BMW SCs or which is the best. Quill did a good job. It's relatively quiet compared to other SCs so you know they are not doing a rush job. How much is your mileage now Jim? And I hear there are outside mechanics who can do the oil change too. Still I feel more confident with the official SCs. It's all intricate electronics and nifty modern engineering tech these days and the outside guys might bungle everything up.And maybe BMW might pick up on their meters that we serviced the car outside and that would invalidate our warranties.Has anybody reported unusual amount of sludging during the first oil change for our 320d cars?

my current mileage is around 10300km

when u did urs at 12000km, do u pay on ur own or free under bsri?

any idea the cost to change oil at 10000km? was thinking to do regular interval 10000km for oil change

Free of charge. Just drive into the center tell them your air cond air smells funny and that the doors rattle. And ask them to do the service 1 shot! They'll change the aircond filter as they always do during the first servicing, do the tape door thingy and magic!---your car's serviced earlier for free!

I'm cool with it...I like the way it shines after I've polished it's top.

Guys, Changed your engine oil every 10K ! Don't follow the high tech gizmo on the service counter....Once sludge built up in those turbo lub pipes and clog it, you guys will be in trouble.

my air cond just started to smell funny but the door is still intact. so they will change the filter for free..

Just to add, there is an official bulletin from BMW about the AC funky/musty smell since last April. I saw it the last time I was at AB, not sure if they change the filter but there is a fix for it and it's covered under warranty.

Still haven't done mine though.

Fungus grow on the cooling coil because its wet there, and not on your cabin filter. Sometime its due draining not proper so water takung.

I was told occasionally, we need to "flush" the system by switching on the heater or press "MAX" on the a/c control to circulate hot air [car park under hot sun, super hot cabin] into the cooling coil which kills fungus.

Ray, how long it takes for the 1st service? 1 hour? Pre-booking or just walk in?

I think they just flow some disinfectant gas through the AC system to kill the mold. The smell will come back if we don't change how we use the beemer AC. To make sure the smell don't come back, switch off the AC (snow button off) but let the blower run with only outside air for 5 min before shut off engine.
I still forget to do this

Best to leave it there half day, bro. You rush them and they may not be able to do a proper job. I left the 320d in the morning at 830am and picked it up at 2pm during my lunch break.Best call them a day or 2 days before sending to book appointment slot.

They always do at the time of first servicing anyways...

Read this in Paul Tan's write up about the new X3.......The diesel model is the new 184 horsepower BMW X3 xDrive20d – this 184hp and 380Nm version of BMW’s single turbocharged 4-potter diesel engine made its debut in the BMW F10 and is expected to hit our E90 LCI 320d pretty soon.

New 2L diesel engine up in power and torque!:top:...oppps...but we bought the 177hp/350nm engine....

Anybody keen on a 520d? What do you think the price will be?...350K?

What else can be done to make our beloved 320d's N47D20 more powerful? More Torque, more Horsepower, more of everything...

Considering changing the intercooler, but I don't think it will greatly improve the performance.

Reducing weight is also an idea, but nothing to remove...

The BMW Performance Dynamic package is rubbish, the kit creates more aerodynamic drag and no performance improvement. All cosmetic. I also already have more power then the promoted 320d performance kit, but the car still isn't responsive or fast enough. My mark is to out beat a B8 2.0Q.

I am considering carbon-fiber boot and hoods, but no supplier...

what else is there to do?
