Thank you.

You mean the engine check light is on? If it is then just plug into the reader and check the actual error code.

High rmp the car, it appear, gentler drive it's ok.
When warning light its on engine vibrate at low rmp but It will disappear itself Automatically and car stable back. Just wander such low millage why got this problem..sick!
Note:/Ppl advice on esso Ron97 it's now really feel better, not so offen..!
Deference brand petrol got deference quality?

@kennytey, why not you send the car to the workshop to check the actual error code? It might be the HPFP after all. The mileage might look low but it is normally not the actual mileage (assuming you bought an AP recond car).

Thanks for advise. Yes it's AP recond UK. I also suspect that mileage! But the car was look great even in those detail area, somehow still got the new BMW car smell.. Hope its fine anyway Luckily the HPFP cost only S$420.ori.

I borrow from friend(2006/530i) the gps DVD but was not support by LCI model. Why? It's that deference?

HPFP is around RM1,400 (inclusive labor) when I change it in KL :)

my friend is considering a 523i with N53 engine. Trying to talk him out of it, but when you think with your heart (or c0ck in his case :p) and not brains, its very difficult to listen to logic! I spoke to my mechanic and he says that usually its only the high pressure pump, the injectors rarely has any problems. Has anyone had any problems with the injectors?

Even mercedes also has problems with their CGI engines (also direct injection like n53), from what I understand before 2009, cycle and carriage never brought in any CGI v6 engine, only 4 cylinder.

It really depends on your luck and all cars would have problems (nothing is perfect). Unfortunately in this case, the high pressure fuel pump and injectors fail at a higher rate compared to others and that's about it :)

Ya...bro aoch88....totally agree with you....all cars got its own sets of problems and issues......repair and maintenance is just part & parcel of any car.....of course it is higher for BMW....but the satisfication also high....:top:

Ignition coils too..!! Me, changed all 6 ignition coils last six months, still kena engine misfire last week, diagnosed n found out piston no. 1 misfire..changed at Supreme autoworks bangi ( thought wanna claim Opal ins.), found out only one misfire..Damage ? rm170 for one ignition. coil n rm80 labour/diagnose..Coil charged was high, but malas to gadoh2 just pay..few days later, feels the engine vibrate a little again..sigh..

Viewed a 2007 525i M-Sport UK spec today and it's my first time came across N53 engine. Price is pretty good but good that bumped into this thread while reading about N53 and found out the common issues.

There would be issues on N52 as well but primarily for N53, these are potentially bound to happen :) My take is, if you don't mind spending RM1,500 to replace the HPFP and in case the injector fails, you can go ahead with the purchase. You might also want to take note that the N53 engine produces more bhp/torque compared to N52. Good luck.

My 523i engine n53 just replace the injector #6 last month.now injector no 2 also got problem..just get new info bhp petrol use low sulfur same standard with Euro 3...anyone already use bhp for n53?

I did..changed from Esso/Petron to BHP few months back, same case expecting my injector/ignition issue might be resolved cause good review on BHP so called german technology..NOPE ! still status quo, engine still vibrates, sometimes lack power when accelerates, engine light appear wile driving n few minute later dissapiar again..pening2 !

I have read in other international BMW forums (North America, UK & Europe) that N53 has similar injector/ignition issues even though their fuel is much cleaner.

Cleaning fuel injectors, valve clean and the whatnots are only short term solutions.....end day, problems will still persist.
