allo guys,i was told by a friend that my engine shuts down at a very rough pace.he suggested that i use a timer for the engine to shuts down gradually thus reducing the damage caused by a sudden engine shut downs. is this true or not? but i do feel the roughness of the engine when it shuts down...will it be any better if i installed the timer.... any significant effects?ENLIGHTEN ME..... :D :D thanksRegards  LipisBimmer

Huh? I can't see how a turbo timer can help you with that.... tried your car before. I did not see any issues with it shutting down then. Perhaps you felt so becos of the sports cam and high idling RPM.

really huh....???

sh*t, so many issues already... the problem with this car is it was almost fully done up....

thus, maybe i was trying my best to personalize it a bit ... but ended up with many useless gadget ideas... damn....!

:p :p

Hello,

I have a turbo charged car (272bhp) and it has a turbo timer. Basically if you do not have a turbo charger on your car, you don't need one. Here is the explaination:

A turbocharger spins at over 90,000 rpm. Not to mention the fact that 1,300-degree exhaust is blowing over the exhaust turbine. If you turn off your car after running it hard, oil can turn solid from the intense heat present around the turbocharger. The factory manual recommends you idle the car for a few minutes to let the oil circulate and cool down the turbo, but who wants to sit and wait?

A turbo timer is the elegant solution. It wires in to the ignition to keep the car running for a few minutes (user-defined or automatically calculated) to allow the turbo to properly cool down.

HTH, cheers. ;)

another reason is with a turbo charger even after you switch of the engine the turbine is still spinning so when you immedietly switch of the engine, oil stops flowing before it stops spinning therefore causing damage, the reason to idle is so that you still let the oil flow before the turbine spins to a stop.
Thats the reason why the harder you whack the longer the idle time bcos it takes a longer time for the turbine to stop spinning.

Then there is an INTERCOOLER to rapidly cool down the engine.

With the help of the timer the driver can switch off the engine and hastilly make his way to the toilet if wanna answering natures call. :D The engine will auto stop by itself after the preset time, may 2 > 4mins. :lazy:
