Remember this quote in Boys N' the Hood?

Furious Styles: Why is it that there is a gun shop on almost every corner in this community?
The Old Man: Why?
Furious Styles: I'll tell you why. For the same reason that there is a liquor store on almost every corner in the black community. Why? They want us to kill ourselves

stereotypical response of the 70's......as if drinking or smookin weed is not by choice.

Wonder if anyone here lepaked at Red Rooster around Medan Tuanku in the 80s? Thats where local rock group Search first made their presence felt.... Hilary Ang can really goreng Ozzy's Bark At The Moon.

And also Bier Keller at Section 14.
Yeah Zaki...i used to go "hunting" for such spots with "good" live music.
Red Rooster was one of my fav....the Search moved to the illegal Hard Rock Cafe in Tmn Tun.

Ella & the Boys started out in Bier Keller..

Anyone remember Poe and "No Nama"?

What about "Glass Bubble" in Jaya Puri Hotel (former PJ Hilton)

Bangsar has The Moon and Zamanphas

Damansara Jaya had Trefpunkt

All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
It's early morn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already i'm so lonesome
I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
¡®cause i'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when i'll be back again
Some boy band did a cover on this about 5 years ago.. and they played it at one of the clubs - i sang along and my junior colleagues were impressed that i knew the lyrics... hehehe without knowing that it was an original John Denver song popularised LONGGGG time ago... Had to explain-lah.. and we all had a good laugh!

Personally, these were the best years!
The music that came out from this era was just excellent!
Just look back and if all these names ring a bell:
The Beatles
Beach Boys
Simon & Garfunkel
Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan
Jimi Hendrix
James Gang
America etc ect...and many many more

Those were more carefree days....No such thing as an AP or Haze in those days.

Air con in cars were an opional item. Cars were also manual drive and in the earlier years, there were doubts about automatic transmission.

Then came the "Battles" with different formats.

Music was stored in Cartridges or Reels....then came the Cassette...of course we all know what happened to that too...

In the audio visual arena, the battle for survival was between VHS and Betamax....well we also know who won and eventually got kicked out by Laser Disc, VCD and currently DVDs

Yeah.... "those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end"

Yeah...roti canai costs 20 cents, a double storey link house in DU cost less than 80k and my dad bought his first Honda Civic for 13k. :beaten:

Remember this famous song from Twisted Sister ..... picture below

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lost it
This is our life, this is our song

We'll fight the powers that be just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh you're so condescending
Your gall is neverending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you

Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

Oh Oh

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
