While looking for my e39 ride, I visted number of used car dealers and there was one that really amazed me. I just played along and pretended to be innocent.Salemand: Boss, we have many BMW latest models....all Japan recond tip top conditions. Our company only select the best car. What model you looking for? Me: e39...525iSalesman: e39..... already absolute.,,,.buy e60 better... I think e39 maybe still got one or two left.Went to view and turned-on the e39s....Me: Wow, all the mileage very low.Salesman: Told you we only select best cars from Japan. All our customers very satisified with our cars.Me: Surely you adjust the mileage meter...Salesman: We use special computer program to tune the engine to make it more powerful . We tune to lower mileage so after you buy the car, the car no electronics problems.Me: You mean your company actually lower the car mileage....how can you do that??Salesman: Not that we want to cheat our customers...we actually help them because when we tune and lower the mileage, the car engine become very good and powerful. no electronics problems later on. All dealers doing it but some dealer not very good so that why lots of problems after buying their cars.Me: Are you sure or not??Salesman: we sold so many already.....no complaints...all very satisfied.Me: thank you and I will also recommend my BMW club members to buy your cars.

It does happen.. Just make sure you bring it to a reputable mechanic for thorough checking.

my E46 was 5 yrs old when it came from japan, and showed 28k kms on th clock. i'm sure a GT1 would show that actual mileage is triple that.

"tune and lower the mileage, the car engine become very good and powerful"

wow! can i do the same for my car every 3 years just like i change my lub every 10K?

calling calling astroboy....your opinion needed here

Actually it is quite true.. most recon car can be retune.. but the term retune means updating the latest firmware and nothing more.

i have seen many "unregister' car (with trade plate) at the workshop where I service my car. Most of the parallel importer does the updating there before delivering the car to the new owner.

btw, recon car from japan does have low mileage. Japanese do not drive their car to work and only use them for weekend drive cos petrol, toll and parking is expensive there.

Wa reversible process. Defy the 2nd law of thermodynamics :top::love:

So if I pump the exhaust gas back to engine can produce petrol & air?

Haha... like that I can return my IC to registration office and ask them to alter my date of birth la.. cool! Great being young again!

Many Japanese drove an average of 5k km a year, what Jarance said is true, they take bullet train to work, cheaper and faster. Most stay more than 200km away from office.

ya, but many people don't believe this. they say japanese recond car all got tamper mileage one...

Best thing to do is to pinjam the GT1 mesin from Funfer & plug it in to see the mileage:)
