Hi all,After my futile search for a good E39 local AB year 2002 and above within my budget, I am now changing my target to an E60.Since I have to spend more money anyway, might as well look for a newer model. After reading much of this forum, I would like to ask sifus here which E60 is the best to look for.I am leaning more towards 523 and 520 as road tax wouldn't too high as compared to 530.Any comments/feedbacks are kindly appreciated.Cheers

yes you are right.

I am even not sure which one! But ££ talks

When your $$ allow u to buy e60, sure u can affort e39 ma..problem is which one u like? The old skool solid body curve line in e39 or modern Japanese fly line in e60?

Hai Bro, look for ori msport 525 m54 engine , last model 2005 , unregistered , if possible u.k spec. Reason idrive system able to support communication and entertainment program in English version , is not a magnesium engine and not a problematic active steering - current market prise RM 185k

When u can afford e60, owning an e39 is a peace of mind..

thanks bala.

Yes agree. I tend to avoid jap spec but the market is flooded with Jap spec.
Maybe cheaper for the dealer (tax-wise) to bring in Jap spec hence higher profit margin since the selling price is identical whether it is UK or local spec.

My grouses with Jap spec are:
1) have to change the i-drive system so that the radio and nav/comm will work
2) not many jap spec come with PDC

yes of course affordability perhaps not an issue but the best bang for your buck is.

Cheers

I think the best answer to your above question will be answer by yourself. Buying a used BMW whether it is a e39 or e60 is relatively easy. How you maintain it is another question. A used BMW needs lots of TLC maintenance. So don't be even surprise that you may have to fork out at least RM10k to bring the car to its original condition. You also have to ask yourself how much you can put aside every month for unexpected replacement of wear & tear components. Yearly roadtax & insurance is just minimal compared to maintenance.

Cant agree more. If buying BMW still worry bout maintenance, roadtax & petrol. better dont buy.
I rather drive good condition cuntchill than lemon BMW. I rather drive good condition older BMW model than problematice newer BMW.

Hmmnn... It seems every sentence of yours is contradicting one another..

There is trade offs in squeezing every possible hp from each cubic cm of engine displacement and reliability is one such trade off. So performance wise, BMW engine produce a lot more output than an NA Toyota engine and it would be ridiculous if one thinks BMW should compare to Toyota's reliability. By Toyota's definition, every BMW is a lemon.. :1:

i drove a 545i once.. the perfect daily driver if not for our ridiculous roadtax regime.

530d ...the perfect daily driver that would take me miles away till the next station
