hi alvin how did u manage to use your ori radio n navigation when everyone else is having problems? pls share...

Change the CCC module, some wiring & 3S reprogramming. All ori parts. I only know of 1 shop that has done it but problem is he doesnt want to do it for all customers. Only the close ones. Lots of hours

Hey, Alvin...Wah, best la you...your car is now already an EU full spec car la...you have all functions working like a charm...bluetooth, tv, radio, satnav with the 2008 map dvd...and your cd changer now also works...congrats man!

If you don't say that your car is a jap spec, people won't know la...it's even better than an ab car maa...He,he,he.....

the restricted FM frequency really sucks ! are you sure no solution to that?

There is a solution, if you only intend to have radio frequency matching our country's frequency, i can recommend a place...but it will cost you around RM2.5K...All other funtions are retained...

i bought an 04 e60 530i recon from japan (M54B30 engine) and from experience + research these are common problems:
1. cannot listen to local radio (frequency up to 90.0hz only) - can be solved for RM2.5k
2. door seal noise when on bumpy roads (still no solution up to today)
3. fragile windscreen easily chipped by stones

other than that its a great car.

personally i think the engine is powerful but car is heavy so i have plans to supercharge the car with ESS tuning supercharger. hopefully it can beat the N52B30 (which is significantly more powerful than the M54B30) or even the new 272hp 530.

p/s: oh yea the M54B30 fuel consumption is high when revved

Answers:
1) you've got that right, and you can only do it at one place that i think you know...
2) there is a solution...you have 2-
a)change to a new improved rubber seals and the teflon tape on the body... but, the cracking noise will come back later in a couple of months due to our weather...so i don't recommend this option because its quite costly...(unless your rubber seal edges have warped)
b) use wd40 and carefully spray it on the whole edge of the rubber part where the furry fabric is all away through...believe me, you won't have the annoying creak sound anymore...
3) this i can't help you la...this is due to luck factor...mine is still fine and i've been driving the car since early of the year...so far, no problems for me...

chong i know a workshop in pj who can change the whole radio for RM2500. according to the guy he is still working on the navigation which should cost about RM7000 (including radio fix). i am holding on until he is ready for navigation. will keep you updated.

i can guarantee that your radio will work because they will change the radio receiver module...and it does cost at least rm2.5k...

but, for the sat nav to work, bear in mind that the solution may work with some exceptions that you have to accept...i doubt that all your car funtions will retain, i'm guessing that if the guy succeeds, you won't have your tv function and most probably, your sound system won't sound like before (all jap spec cars have HiFi Pro amps that sounds a lot better than local AB cars) or your cd changer won't work...

but, where i did mine, everything is working...radio, sat nav (with 2008 dvd map, the latest for sing-mal), cdc, pdc, bluetooth, tv...it works like a charm...you can ask alvin to confirm this...:top:

hi guys,hijack sikit.

i'm planning to purchase an e60 525i m54.after hearing of problems with jap-spec cars regarding the i-drive,i was rather put off by it.

question ..are there uk spec cars that i can my hands on? what are the differences in spec that i can expect between the two?

and yeah,ESS has their TS-series superchargers for use on M54B30 engined e60s.very very cool indeed.. spoke to Asbjorn of ESS and they will launch the TS1 kit for the 525i M54 very very soon:top: .
