+1 totally agree with Iceman's recommendation...

just last night i was browsing more details on e46 and today i came across this fresh thread full of comments and recommendations. what a coincidence, maybe it's a sign for me to get one. LoL

my story is like this. i just got my e39 recently about a month back. my initial plan is to utilize my e39 as a long distance car and not daily drive. for daily use i plan to buy a smaller car and i am looking for used japs car considering its cheap maintainance and less headache.

but it's true what some people say, once u drive UDM there's no turning back. you'll get stuck with its fantastic driving experience. i got my 2nd thought, why not i get an e46 instead. what worries me a lot is whether i can maintain 2 UDMs at once. for the wear & tear parts i have no problem with that since i understand they'll get kaput when old. bigger problem is maintaining gb, steering rack etc not to kong because that for sure cost a bomb. any tips how to find good condition car especially on the major parts?

Hi Guys

I heard from few of my friends mentioning the engine used on lifestyle model is different from the previous E46. Is this a new engine or exactly the same? I am asking on both 2000cc and 2500cc (318 & 325). What is really different between facelift and lifestyle model? Im asking this because i cant differentiate between original lifestyle model and e46 which is "converted" to lifestyle model.

Best Regards

Huskar,

It is nice to own both e39 and e46 together. i owned an e39 close to a year then bought an e46 330i. Initially didnt quite like the e46 as i find the e39 is a much better drive. After changing the suspension set up to bilstein and H n R on my e46, I love the ride and handling so much that now I am thinking of getting either the e46 330ci or the e46m3! Go for it bro..for costs of maintenance, I spent about RM25 k per car for the first year. but worth it!

Id say...

Words cannot picture what you experience in a BMW/UDM :p

Its not named "The Ultimate Driving machine" for nothing...

for me if u need the look n some power, go for 330ci/330i....for the maintenance issue, nowdays plenty we can found at the chop shop with resonable price..

Be more patient for your hunting of E46.I spend about 2-3 mths and test drive a few...macam2 ada.

Finally got my 325i year 2002 direct from a owner 2.5 mths back.

Bro....no regret getting a 325i especially d 6-cylinder engine sound and of course d power....ummp.

Only regret.... Kena 4 speeding saman oledi in 2.5 mths (mostly on highway)....2500cc,6-cylinder 181 bhp sure crushing above 110 kmh lah.
