Which better 320i or 325i? Want opinion

Hi. Im newbie here. My plan to buy 2ndhand 320i year 2011 m sport idrive. BUT always heard many mmbers say this model always problem such as leaking,eating engine oil,water mix in combustion because E90 LCI using MAGNESIUM engine that code N46.So i feel worry about being chosen wrong model. I were survey around 10 buah around kl,but just 2-3 buah only it engine smoothly and gbox shifting perfectly. Any opinion that i can know user BMW? Fyi this is my 1st time try CONTI car. Before this just buy Honda n Toyota. 325i dont afford to pay roadtax. I hope all bimmerian can help give opinion.

I do not mean to offend, but if you say you cant afford the roadtax for 325i, Rm877, i think both the 320i and 325i is not for you. A gearbox oil change will cost you RM 600 -900 already.

Personally i think the 325i with the legendary n52 is a better car. Last of its kind.

Yup, I agree. The road tax is just once a year, but service can be quite often. At least twice a year if you drive fairly regularly. The problem you are referring to is gearbox cooler problem. I got it not once, but twice for my E90 320i! All I can say is when that happens...very very nasty. You will end up having to overhaul your gearbox.

But problems aside, I came from an E46 325i (and E60 530i then also) and thought I just wanted a simple 320i (save fuel ma) for my daily drive. But after a few years, I just cannot tahan the lack of power, so changed to a 325i. No regrets now!

Wow. The dreaded ATF + coolant mix combo. How much did it cost you to overhaul the GB each time?

Owning an e90 325i 2010 M-sport for almost a year. My first conti car and i never regret. The last of its kind, the legendary inline 6. Not the best in performance wise, with all these recent forced induction engines, but it still kickin. Adequate performance in city driving, but had orgasm every time driving on the highway. U get the idea.

325i without a doubt. I'm upgrading to G30 soon but am keeping my 2006 E90 325i.

1st time overhaul. 2nd time was advised to just change half-cut GB...which I did...costs about the same. Around RM6K each time

get the 325i....it was more fun driving the earlier models...it is more robust, i started with e30 320i..then e46 318i..then e90 325i.....u must love maintaining ur car....thats where the joy of driving comes..but make sure u have money in the pocket first...
