yea the cheap ones cannot go far really..

:yahoo:
It's not just the distance. The speed of the vehicles seemed to have an adverse effect on reception and the clarity decreased exponentially as the speed increased. At 140kmh, it was pretty much next to useless even though the vehicles were 50m apart. At slow speeds, it was fine.

Really??? Didn't know the speed can affect the transmission performance.

In that case, how do a jet travelling at 2 mach communicate with
each other?? :eek:k: :eek:k: :eek:k:

Sorry for the off topic...

Hi Scin,

wow...did not know that speeds make a diff on clarity....anyway....got up to some decent speeds on both cars so can say no issues on that when testing the moto's yesterday.

Jarance,
jet plane no issues......their radios alone probably cost more than our cars...... :D

so tommorrow TT can test again la.........Dr Chubby.....you bring the set la...we try....

scin..what jet radios again? :D

:yahoo:
The Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL) radio system provides a secure,
jam resistant air-to-air network for up to four flights of four aircraft each
with automatic relaying for increased mobility and range.

The basic communications installations in the F-16A and B consists of Collins ARC-186 VHF AM/FM and Magnavox ARC-164 UHF tranceivers, a Magnavox KY-58 secure voice system, and an interference blanker by Novatronics.

Scin,

So sorry bro..kinda skipped most of the aviation communications technology lectures back in school...but i think i know what ur trying to say...but i think thats a bit tad out of our budget range...but cheers for sharing :D

Ok the talkabouts dont use the rechargables because they absolutely suck, I usually use Energizer batts the walkie's usually last about 1 and half hours if you use it constantly. standby power roughly 3hrs.

If your inside buildings it doesnt really work that great, it says 5kms for range, but actually more like 3kms it works fine,if its more than that its crap.
