here we go again........btw, cops read this forum too!

in the right hands and conditions - even a proton can tau pau a more upmarket car....and I am not talking about step on the pedal kinda of driving.

Anyway most of what elwine said is correct although i have to still say this to him...

elwine...bring on ur e30 onto sepang track to meet my e30! He he

question for e90 and e46 driver, when you guys cruise along the highway at 210km/h - 220 km/h is it easy to change lane? let say from first lane to 3rd lane? and pls mention ur suspension setup.. tq

jules,

well, i think the end-result would be obvious. u will tah pao me kao kao. it's not about your e30 and mine. hahahaha.

is there even a single stretch of highway in msia where you can accurately test the top speed of your car? ie. totally flat road and no down/uphills. the N-S hw is built along our banjaran titiwangsa so there isn't really a stretch which is flat or long enough (at least for the regular BMW's which takes a long distance before even reaching 230kmh)

I know this might sound silly but can a civic 2.0 really beat an E90 325? I took my Civic to 189km/h two days ago on the way back from Johor, was wondering would the E90 325 be more stable compared to the Civic at this speed?

How about the E60, would it be even more stable than both cars?

Personally I have an encounter before with a new Civic 2.0 on the NS Highway and I would say it is not a problem for Civic to keep up with E90 325i. The Civic has tried overtaking me few times but not successful. Well I think it takes a lot of courage for the driver in Civic to beat an E90 325i. As to stability, I'm not so sure about Civic stability but for sure the E90 will definitely have better stability and handling than Civic. During that encounter, I was at 190km/h and the Civic is just about a car length from my car. I can anytime go up to 220km/h but for the Civic, it depends on the driver's courage.

To summarize, Civic can't beat E90 325i unless it is modded with a skillful driver. If it's stock standard car, E90 325i can beat Civic 2.0 anytime in terms of power performance and especially handling.

both cars are poles apart..the E90 325i is in a totally different class..the 2.0 vtec civic is a good car in its class and has good performance for RM120K plus..

the civic ivtec engine 2.0 can reached a speed of 218km/h tops on the highway...

in my ex-boss son's car... but the car is floating...

Its a sign of age..

When u are younger:
1) You cruise around picking races with others on the road
2) You test how fast you can drive and how fast the car will go
3) You show off to your passengers how fast you can drive
4) You also blog, post on forums and sometimes take videos of your speedo at top speed runs
5) You get a high when your Civic outruns a bigger engined BMW and tell all your friends how you killed the bimmer.
6) You have no $$$ to buy the bimmer so, this is the best you can make do with.

How do I know?... Been there done that :)

I like what Cobra Kai said when a few of us were in his E90 325i sports moving fairly briskly along penchala link when this satria overtook us dangerously on the left at one of the bends. He could have gone faster and chased the car down as coaxed by one of the passengers in the car, but he instead said "at the end I'm driving the BMW and the other fella the Proton" and didnt bother chasing....

From my one-off experience on a straight road, the Civic 2.0 can't even outrun a 323i, so it won't stand a chance against the E90 325i, I think. However, the gap I managed to get on a Civic 2.0 was a bit too close for comfort i.e. 2-3 car lengths only. That was never the case when I had my E46 325i against previous Civics. The new Civics are so much better now.

Absolutely right. Now prefer to drive slow slow to let others admire our rides right. Hehehe...

The engine does loosen up a lot towards the 10,000 kms mark from my own experience.

my civic eg(B18C) overtook my 328i wt ease at all speeds...dead start, rolling and topspeed...

I know for a fact the E90 325i can reach 200km/h on the podium straight at Sepang with driver + 2 passengers. I was one of the passengers at a BMW DT session when the instructor did a 2-lap run. The instructor reached it near the end of the straight on 4th gear (M4), maxed revs.

My own E90 has only reached 165km/h or so. I don't feel comfortable driving at high speeds on Malaysian roads with our traffic. I always wish I was driving my E90 instead of other less-worthy rentals whenever I'm in Europe.

I've hit 235 km/h on KL-putrajaya highway. It didn't take long to reach that speed and I was quite surprised when I glanced at the speedo. DY's car was a little bit in front of me tho. Donno what speed his registered at.

During my e46 325 Sport time. the only tough time it was a dog fight with Golf GTI Turbo. He really cucuk me even at 210km. That was the max speed I get in e46 325i going back from Port Dickson highway to KL. Now with 335i….these Evo9, Impreza is so damn fast laa…

Whoa....I only managed to get 230km/h yesterday on the Putrajaya hw. Where did u get the extra 5 km/h??

Mine is standard stock 325i Sport.

But I would say the handling was good up to 180km/h..
