Then the problem starts. I think RM79k for entry level is kind of expensive for proton

Entry level Proton should be Persona. Inspira launched to fill the gap between Persona and Perdana.

U misunderstood my statement. Entry level for inspira is 1.8cc manual RM79k.
Price is higher for 2.0cc version & more higher for paddle shift version:listen:

the Waja 1.8 with the Renault engine was selling at about that price, IIRC... For 79k nowadays, which brand new 1.8L car can we get anyway.. then again, if Proton never existed, different story altogether... :p

I think it's just too pricey for a copy Lancer - RM94,000 for 2.0 Auto. It should be in the price range of Persona or just slightly higher. But copying is a normal thing, especially in China. But the difference is they can sell well, and they can sell it cheap.

...and the 'slaughter' prices continues.

For what is essentially a price protected product, the Inspira is insultingly expensive.

If the Inspira was shockingly cheap, I would say Proton is getting biased treatment and being protected. But its not. The Inspira is largely a CKD product with the CKD kit imported from Japan. Why it's expensive - much of the CKD taxes that everyone else has to pay applies, so Proton doesn't get alot of the leeway that they get with their "true blue" models where everything is welded/stamped locally.

Proton is still being protected, maybe a little less where the Inspira is concerned like what Paul said.Priced to undercut other 2.0 players in the segment like the new Altis and Civic,it will be interesting to see the spec list compared to the Civic and Altis.Rm90+k against Rm130+k is still a substantial amount and a substantial advantage.
Proton should use that advantage to offer a better list of equipments so as to do justice to the people of Malaysia's suffering in paying high taxes for their cars al these years. They owe it to us to do so..

+1. if one considers the lancer a nice car to start with and proton does a good job assembling 'their next waja' without meddling with the design, it should still be a nice car mitsubishi but significantly than equivalent ckd from honda, toyota, etc. how is this different from what naza is doing sticking their badge on a kia or peugeot? stigma of the proton name from their own doing i suppose...

this is just a joke..no heart feeling proton..peace!

Just booked 2.0 White Inspira for my wife.

Based on what I have read I think the 2.0 Inspira will be pretty much similar to the Lancer 2.0 EX which was launched in Msia in Jul 2010.

It comes with 16 in rims and grey interior leather.
