The same as petrol, RM380 (S$150) and 2500cc would be RM680 (S$360) When the French 1300cc diesels come in, the road tax would be RM70 (S$30) Road taxes are set to drop further in 2010, but I don't know the quantum. Singaporeans, read and weep. :D

The Govt here moved away from differentiating diesels from petrols with taxes and duties a few years ago. The task now is to improve the fuel quality and availability, but that's in the works. Singapore is way behind, but then they don't really want private individuals to own cars anyway!

Interesting to see that in the blurb that accompanied the global unveiling of the F10 (new 5 series) in late Nov, BMW described the diesel engines first before the petrol engines. It was almost like: "Oh, btw we also have petrol engines." KERS and a hybrid will also be available. The 2l turbo diesel has much more torque than the 3l in-line six petrol. :D

I think 2010 will see many diesel options coming into our market, now that we have Euro 2 fuel and will move up the quality chain. Wait for the masters of small car diesels: the French. Can you imagine the value for money that a 1.3l diesel will give at 3-4 litres per 100km? At RM70 road tax...

Might be less already Astro. Can have a few beers with the discount. :)

Wow! Sure looking forward to..

In 2007 Christmas, bought the E90 as a Christmas "present" to reward ourselves.. now end up coughing out thousands of Ringgit every Christmas for both Roadtax and Insurance.. :(

Roadtax expire on 25/12/09..

yup roadtax is RM 377 a year...and the performance is very much on par with the 2.5 inline 6 engine :) minus the sweet note of the inline 6... if u drive it, u'll hav a big smile when flooring it from 80kmh...bcoz it can accellerate from 80kmh to 140kmh in 6 seconds :top: but the diesel engine note is not bad also...sounds like grrrrrrrr .. :)

I know how that feels. Mine goes in March - have to start saving...that's how broke I am! :(

Continuing the OT started by someone :) I drop my insured value every year by 20-30k. In a total loss, the claim will be averaged down to the market value anyway, and we tend to overestimate the market values of our cars. My next insured value at 2yrs old will be 180k.

I also don't insure the windscreen because I feel that the risk premium is too high (the premium as a %age of the replacement cost)

Wah. U guys win aldy :) THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY F**KING RINGGIT for one whole year of road tax.!!

Praise to the TOP MEN in the transport ministry :)

Yup, for a 2 litre diesel in S'pore you pay S$3,714pa, we pay S$150pa, ie 4%. Muahahahahah! :dancing2:
BTW, rare typo by me, it's S$260pa for a 2.5 litre, not S$360.

Do let us kill you summore...how much is your diesel per litre?

Ok, that's RM3.05. Hallo dieselheads, what's the price of diesel here? I myself don't know. :D Last count it was RM1.90 wasn't it? Anyway, take it as 66% of your Euro4 diesel, jylam.

Also, to make you feel better, S$150 of road tax will give you 2 whole weeks of time on Singapore's excellent tarmac! Kakakakakah! :D :D

icic...yaa..no point insuring a higher amount bcoz the market value is what the insurance company look into when there is a claim...me no choice bcoz its new car...next yr will get some NCB n then will insure 30k less:rolleyes:
