Camry 2.4 tried to play chicken last night on the highway. Was interesting to see how the 320D pulls away effortlessly from 120km/h to 160km/h, and watching the Camry spool up eventually to catch up doing around 170km/h. Was too easy to just slip over to the right lane and sit right on his bumper at 170km/h+ before remembering I was supposed to be in 'aunty-mode' to better gauge my fuel consumption.

I think its drive-slow and drive-careful mode as if your aunty was sitting next to you reprimanding you everytime you drive above 50km/hr...hee hee

Aunty-mode is driving like an aunty... steady, no sudden rushes, just letting the car do it's thing... sensibly... it's difficult, but with a super-fuel-sipper/save like the diesel engine, it's been fun trying to get every last drop to count...

the optimum speed for 320D is between 80-110 right?

guys...hahaha. with a 'fighter' like a 320d, u could almost sapu 80-90% of the cars in malaysia in terms of performance/speed. hey bro..nowadays all aunties drive very fast too...!!! don't play play ohh... fast is one thing... i always worry they never look at their side and rear mirrors one hor... can cut lane anytime and never know if someone is 'flashing' them from the back...

On the recent KL-Penang runs, I was averaging 130kmh - 140kmh and I was getting about 6.2L/100km, and when speed dropped to 80-120kmh the needle showed around 5 - 5.5L/100km.

I totally lost it with Aunty-mode this week. After hovering around the 6.6L/100km mark for most of the current tank of fuel, I realised that at 3000km plus, the engine had run in and was feeling kinda twitchy and smooth.... so I've been hammering every chance I've gotten and am currently sitting at 8.6L/100km... how terrible.

Also, letting the significant other drive it hasn't helped, as doing it in authentic true aunty-mode with lagging right foot and all doesn't help with fuel consumption, whether it's an ultra-modern diesel or not...

lol. sry for the stupidness. drag means drive slowly right?

Drag means not taking off properly and not letting the transmission change gears properly...

U want to live and really live your life, or you want to live but already are actually dead? if you want the former, get the 320d, that's all I can say. Ask yourself one simple question nik; after reading all the 320d owners reviews on the forums, have you found one 320d owner that regretted buying the car, and not only that , aren't they all overjoyed about their 320d? Look here- go test drive it. Don't like it, buy the 320i and we wish you Good Luck brother! And actually, if you don't buy the 320d, better for us- we can rempit our cars pass you anytime, because your 320i no competition- you know what I mean. So, next time you see a 320d approaching flashing their bixenons, you know you must move aside becuase your car underpowered and you are blocking people's way-show respect, bro!

One last analogy: If 2 houses cost almost the same ( we don't know why), one in Damansara Heights, the other in Batang Kali; houses exactly the same size, design and land size and price (maybe the D'sara Hts owner desperate and needs cash super-fast)...which want u want to buy bro? heee heee. Some people like Batang Kali, maybe they like near Genting etc....up to you bro.

kindna cool how you phrase it docrayboy.. sure will test the 320d tomorrow:eek:

After all this reviews i read from 320d owners, will definitely go and test drive this model. Currently, am driving a subaru and the high price petrol is really killing me as i have a heavy right foot while driving. So far, no issues i read from owners and i have to test drive myself soon.

One thing I can guaratee you aiazly, none of us 320d owners can remember exactly when and where we last filled up our tank with diesel. It's like 10 days or even 14 days ago....how to remember lah?.... and diesel is 10 sens cheaper per litre compared to RON 95 petrol somemore. Haiyo! Durian runtuh bro!! Cepat pergi test the 320d...ada power...ada performance...ada gaya...dan...ada banyak-banyak jimat....rempit puas-puas hati pun, fuel comsumption exactly same.....mine 7.1L/100km.

doc, indeed you are most correct. I genuinely cant remember when and where I last filled up. And to think that amidst this fantastic economy but never having to be conscious of maintaing a light right foot is simply priceless and beyond words. Makes me smile everytime I get in the car and take the long way home.

Mine's been doing a consistent 7.1l/100km on Caltex. My friend tried BHP and reported obviously reduced diesel engine clatter but not as powerful as Caltex.
