My E90 experiences a lag when trying to accelerate from a stationary position, ie during traffic light stops etc.One of the accessory shops in Sunway suggested I install a sprint booster. Now before I do this, has anyone installed this in their E90? Does it make any difference?Any comments from the gurus here ?

Wow Ghost you have been really active eh ;) Do a quick search here and you will find a few threads on this topic. Your engine needs to break-in a little, after 10,000km she will sing and rev like no tomorrow. I didn't buy into the Sprint thingy as I found it difficult to meter in the accelaration and basically what it does is just amplify your accelarator's position which bascially equates to stepping on more gas, so why pay RM1000 plus when I can do it with my foot. But there are others who have installed it and love it.

Ghost, the auto steptronic gearbox has ATM, Adaptive Transmission Management, which learns your driving style and maps the gearchanges accordingly. I reckon you're still running in your car and are not driving like a maniac yet, so it's probably starting off in 2nd gear. Hence the slow take-off. When your car's run-in and you start driving more spiritedly, you'll find the take-off very different. That's what I found, and now I'm back to square one again with my new unit. :p

I can't remember where, but there's a post in an Australian forum which tells you how to reset the ATM. Otherwise just go into steptronic mode and shift gears yourself to feel the difference.

The sprint booster only remaps your accelerator response and as danc says, why pay good money when stepping harder on the pedal will do the same thing? :)

Reset ATM:

Step 1. Turn key to the ignition on (Don't crank the engine, just turn the key to radio on)
Step 2. Depress gas pedal all the way to the metal for 30 sec, then release.
Step 3. Depress brake and start the engine (Don't turn key back to zero position, turn it on from step 1)

But i dun think that u need to do it now, juz drive ur car for some while 1st.

GhostDriver, you need to drive your car more. Let it run in more, say around 10,000 kms and you will then feel the differences. I am on sprint booster and I got it secondhand (used by one of the forummer for 2 months) at RM 500. IMHO, it is worth getting it at the price that I got but to buy it at RM 1,200 (new unit), I will not buy it.
