bro, can you recommend where is the best workshop with the best price to change this,

my smg has start troubling me now.

Can describe how you know it is trouble coming ?
Thanks.

Guys,
I still can't drive the car properly when on a uphill slope !
Unlike the auto cars, the car rolls backwards as soon as I depress the brake.
For manual cars, I can use both feet on the brake and accelerator to moderate the car.
But for SMG, by the time I release the brake pedal to step on the accelerator, the car already started moving backward.
I tried using the handbrake but it is not much help.
How do I do this properly each and everytime ?
Embarassing when people see this and dangerous when a car is right behind me.
Thanks.

For me..I just step on the accelerator a second or two earlier before letting go of the handbrake.Got to get the timing right though (and make sure the gear is 1 not N! ) .Got to tighthen the handbrake time to time...no choice.

For me, it takes around 2-3 weeks if not mistaken to get the smooth gear change and get use with the smg and yep you need a very tight handbrake..

I ordered a Nissan Livina for my wife and was promised delivery before Chinese New Year so I called Tan Chong to cancel the order. Wasted my number plate tender money.
So I do have intention to buy a car, just that I have to take out a bigger loan.
DId not take much to convince my wife that in 3 years, I will get another car and she gets to drive this one .......
Than we both discovered that SMG is a bitch to drive and she regrets it now.

For me, Smg is one of the best gearbox...

....droping gear when taking corner......

....playing with the launch control....:driver:

...shifting at redline..... slurp....

....and money is not the concern... hehehehehe:64:

Launch control - this means pressing sports mode and releasing the DSC ?
The manual says don't do it too often as it will lead to pre mature failure of something like that as it places extra strain for the engine.
Not to mention anything about the tyres.
but if money is not a problem, OK lah ..........

Ozone,

Airylush is spot on.SMG is a total "breakaway" car from normal auto everyday driving around city and stuff(its a perfect car if u are always on the highway). You decide when to up or drop gears rather than the autobox. Its strictly a drivers car...ladies and uncles would not fancy it for sure!

SMG / SSG is not really for ladies driver. Even with the Cruise Mode ( C Mode ) is quite diffcult for them to drive (including my wife).

It's fun car to drive and don't regret it. Maybe you have to get another ride then for your wife...... Which I did that.

Is there any function like SMGII where you pull the upshift pedal so the car is not rolling back when stop or moving up from hill? This function is called "Gradient Assistance" in the BMW manual. Hope it help.

I don't think so. If yes how to do it? What I mean how to activate the system?
