huskar3399;819190 said:minor update. yesterday i diy my valve cover gasket replacement. i changed because the other day there was smoke coming out from my engine compartment. from my observation i noticed the smoke came from the leaked oil burned by the exhaust manifold which i assumed might be coming from bad VCG. so i got a set of new gasket from BA and started dismantle things until i found out it was the valve cover itself that broken. apparently two nut holders in the middle that supposed to hold the cover to the engine head are broken most probably due to overtighten and this makes holes on the VCG which leads to EO leak. so i ended up buying a used valve cover from chop shop and it costed me rm450 which i think a fair price. the process of installing the VCG with new gaskets & grommets is fairly simple and quite straight forward.
fired up the car and clear the stored DTC (the neverending CEL) and walla the CEL is no longer there until now and hopefully it stays that way (touch wood). the CEL warning that appeared since i got my VCG and vanos seals replaced at the workshop is now solved. never realized all this while that the broken valve cover is the real culprit. i am one happy driver now. so anybody that faces the same neverending CEL problem might want to start checking their valve cover condition.
